Sorry If I seem picky. I love the color combo you threw on it... as a mechanical device it looks as it wouldn't make the cut.
How would it walk? Being as the hip joints are so tight on each other... I would think it's mobility would be severly hamped. The cockpit seems to have a major blind spot below in front... Perfect for an anti mecha trooper with a RPG type weapon to blow the pilot out the top of the mecha, ultimate hot seat!

Ok, First thank you for the comment. Second, The whole mechanical walking thing does not bother me at all. This is just a makebelieve mech made for my freind the way (he) wanted me to make it. My mech designs are not going to be 100% realistic since I am not mechanically inclined. I just like to create these crazy looking ones even if they would not work in real life.... I hope this does not sound like I'm upset or anything.. cause it's all good!

It's true that it doesn't have to be realistic, but if you're going to pose the thing in a scene mid-stride or even put in a game or animation it has to be able to move it's legs and move in a convincing way, none of that ice-skating type effect, or the 'run as if on flat ground while going up a 45 degree slope' from crappy games from years back, or at least not intersect it's own geometry.
Obviously, one can't criticize on the basis of unkown technology- "I've done a structural analysis on your design and it would not survive 80 g loads as your spec sheets states, and the He3 fusion power plant does not have enough surface area to radiate excess heat..."
Your design could work as designed (I guess we'll see how it works in a scene), but maybe some additional joints at the hip and would make it more spider like and more capable looking.
Keep up the good work.

Thank's. Yea I know what you mean. I wanted to extend the legs myself. My freind that I am doing this for did not want them like that. I just emailed him and I told him that I may change the legs because of the comments I'm getting. I'm waiting to hear back with an ok before I do it though.

OK Pattern made some points about the reactor not having the surfaces of cooling!! Wow I was thinking that deeply into it. And BTW your answer to my comment was perfect you took the critic in stride which shows an adult attitude. Very Cool, also the truth is you did it how someone asked it to be done. So the blame for the design looking unfeasible goes to him or her!
And yeah Pattern's idea of an extra join to make it more spider like is on way of going. Another way I thought of was to make the joints more like a large cat typoe of animal. Like the two rear like would be closer together as far as width goes.. also longer with more jointing to compress for level standing. This sort of design now makes it look more like a predator cat. With the ability to sprint straight line and strike with the awesome weaponary you placed on your mecha monster!
Before I get inundated with comments about how something like that wouldn't work cause of physical science like ground weight and all that I say. We must remember it's an artifice of fantasy. So I know reality could take a break.
Kudos on your art and the answer you gave me to my original comment!

This has nothing to do with your comment but I just had to say it. I'm watching spongebob with my son right now and I actually imagined you sounding like Patrick, lol.
