Omg this is awesome! Check my next to normal fan art in my gallery as well and see what you think. It's the one with the head and pills in it. This though is just amazing and could be part of the next to normal musical!

Wow! This is great. It's a really accurate portrayal of what's going on inside that house. This is my favorite musical, and I do believe it would've made a superb poster for the show.

OH my goodness. This image is really powerful and totally represents the theme of the show. Goodness, everything about this image, the colors, Diana's face, the shadows of the family... this is truly wonderfully beautiful. Fantastic work.

I really love the emotion here, the colors are used brilliantly. Is this oil? Did it take you very long?

It's mostly oils, yeah. I'm not great at gauging specifically how long a piece took me, but I definitely spend a lot more time coming up with the idea and planning my composition then I do actually painting. I paint fairly quickly.

Ah! Thanks for the reply, do you work on many pieces at a time? I also stare at compositions for long periods of time to decide what must be done.

Yeah, I'm usually working on several pieces at once.
Staring at one composition for a long time always makes me start to hate it, so usually I will explore the composition by drawing lots of small thumbnails. Once one of the thumbnails is chosen I tend to stick fairly close to that composition; adding detail without altering the placement. Then it's just a matter of finding/taking reference and sketching out ideas about lighting and color. Thennnn I start to paint.
You can actually some of my thumbnails and a sketch for this piece on my behance profile. [link]

Very nice sketches! I try to sketch out composition before working, but I tend not to like exactly what I've planned as I work. So they change quite a bit, but I work with tracing paper to try different things fairly often. Your more in detail sketch was really nice.
