Description Time. One of reality's greatest fantasy.

Usually when thinking of perspective I think of the technique of creating the illusion of space (or distance). I think of time in the same sense.

You know, it just occurred to me that you're one of my favorite deviant artists and I've never commented on your art. Your watercolors are stunning and inspiring. I really want to get back into art and try painting some again.

I'm really amazed by this one DSR (for short ); both the technique application and the composition are simply superb! All the details in the clothing and figures really make the image shine; I'm quite sure Keiichi is delighted by this comission ^__^

Regarding what you mention in your description, I beg to differ; Time is no more a fantasy than space (or depth), time is so real, we can even measure it Well, at least it is my very humble opinion. One has to think that time is more than the measuring of succesive moments in an infinite cycle or stream and think of it as a trascendental force that is required to separate events and ramifications of them. I do love talking about time, it is one of my favourite subjects, even if I don't understand it at all (although I strive to)

Oh, before I forget! I forgot to reply to your last message DSR; I'm very glad you liked the Hansel & Gretel idea for the coffe shop, and, if it's of any use, do apply it, I'd be very happy and honoured that I could help you

By the by; Happy Halloween and Day of the Dead!

Thank you Sir-Pumpkinhead!

I guess I have a lot more to read regarding time. I always enjoy hearing differing opinions so thank you for sharing yours

Have a very happy Halloween!!!

My pleasure DSR (and you can call me J for short )

You and me both there's so many things to consider regarding it, that I think it is not possible to fully understand it (well, in fact I don't think we are truly able to understand everything about something...).
I do too, it's always interesting to hear other's points of view or opinions regarding any topic, specially when it's something so abstract and open to interpretations/theories.

So do you and a Happy Day of the Dead too!

But, unlike distance, time is unilateral, and only has one dimension! How can you project (foreshorten) a single dimension?

TeacupBee In reply to 0riginal-shiinto [2007-10-30 22:15:45 +0000 UTC]

I am not talking technically. I merely elude to the use of illusion. Drawing perspective - to fool the eye into believing that a flat space (as flat as paper) can make you believe that 2D objects (perhaps 3D) can occupy within it's space. It isn't really there. Time, if you look beyond the obvious, can be very similar. I would never state that they are one in the same.

Time is merely a measurement that we have made up. It isn't really there. IMO That's why time machines can exists only in our dreams. If time doesn't exist then there is no "back" to go to. We rely so heavily on labeling our chaos we forget that most of what we rely on are rules that we have made up. Or to put it simply, we live within a box (rules) and when we remember that we do we can start to redefine it's shape however we wish.

Why do people go for the obvious? Or stay within anything Black & White? If you wanted to compare oranges to the meaning of life (teasing here ^.^) the possibility is there if you TRY a little.

People shackle themselves because they are incapable of really understanding absolutes. We can't fathom freedom without restriction (chaos).

It's odd, because although I generally agree with your reasoning, the conclusion I draw about time is completely opposite! I think our perception of time is a cross-section of projection of a greater and orders of magnitude more complex structure; imagine a 2d drawing of a 3d girder structure - order brought into apparent chaos by nonrepresentative cross-section.

Still, it's your drawing, and your reasoning, and it's good to know
