| Protective |Loyal | Gutsy | Stubborn | Scrappy |Fiery |Spiteful |Slow |
A raging inferno within the deepest forge is the best way to describe Raelynn’s personality. Untamable but contained and given a direction. She learned early that if you get angry enough, you can push the biggest mountain. Raelynn is hot-headed but uses it to protect those she loves and push herself to conquer anything she puts her mind to.
Raelynn doesn’t make friends easily given her outward personality but she will fight tooth and nail to the bitter end for anyone. However, should someone gain her ire, she will ensure the punishment fits the crime. Of course, Rae is not one for grudges. Instead, she directs her energy to more important or productive matters.
Somewhat slow, the brunette has no real understanding of magic, politics, or any literature and thus isn’t one to be knowledgeable about such things. Her interests in the earth’s bounty and smithing or perhaps the best kind of ale are the main topics she knows. Raelynn can learn but it takes a little while before she properly understands things.
If she finds someone to be a friend, Rae will often be a good cheerleader for them and is happy to laugh with them over a pint of ale.
History:
The strongest steel is best forged in the hottest of fires. When she was hardly a year old, Raelynn was left behind by her human parents. She doesn’t know why but chooses not to pursue it. Instead, she was adopted by a Dwarven family and taken to one of the many mountain homes of Dal Dorum; Måmgoz Ikûl, or Dragon Nest. It is a city known for its master smiths and the tough steel weaponry and armor they crafted. Raelynn’s father, Tymyl, was one such smith as was the rest of the family.
From him, Rae mastered the forge and worked days at a time to craft the best weapons she could. Being human within a Dwarven city was certainly difficult for her. As a child and even into adulthood, her peers judged her harshly on her work and the quality of her craft. Not being one to contain her anger easily, Raelynn harshly fought those that drew her ire. Tymyl disciplined her harshly and nudged her anger towards the forge instead, “Stoke the fires with yer temper and pound the steel with yer rage. Don’t quit till yer feelin’ better.” She did just that every night until her anger was quenched and eventually became the Forgemaster of her home, earning the family’s Warhammer.
When the Surge echoed across the land, the fire within Raelynn ignited to full form. Fire came to her at the sparks of her anger and helped to scorch her foes. She channeled it into her hammer and the strength she used to defend her home. Raelynn wanted to become stronger so she could fight off anyone who threatened Dragon Nest. Forging her armor and developing her control over the brighter fire of rage she bore, Raelynn trained by fighting off creatures that came too close to the city. She did dream she would fight a dragon someday but thankfully, her father was there to hold her back from such a reckless endeavor.
A blade must be tempered with cool waters, of course. An outsider came to Dragon Nest, a cleric of Auril, by the name of Liesel Hirsch. A cool level-head to temper the flames of Raelynn’s anger and provide proper direction. The two grew close and eventually, Rae wished to follow Liesel out from the mountainhome on her travels. They made their way to Lumivaara at Liesel’s suggestion for Rae to join the adventurer’s guild there. This would allow Raelynn to hone her combat skills and also the chance to explore more of the continent to find materials with which to create her magnum opus; just as all Dwarves back home sought to do.
The pair split off once they reached the city so that Liesel could find proper housing for them besides staying in an inn for an extended period. Though very much out of her element, Rae adapted to city life but still becomes restless without the stone of the mountain beneath her feet.
Goals:
IC: Forge a blade from the toughest ore that exists somehow.
OOC: Advance her as a character beyond simply an angry girl.
Trivia:
Rae feels more at home with other Dwarves when she’s away from Liesel. She’s seen other humans and humanoids but feels better around more familiar people.
Lacking much actual knowledge, she prefers to stick to what she knows.
Not normally the touchy type, Rae is easily calmed by a few pats on the head or a good hug.
Despite having grown up under a mountain, Raelynn Hates the dark and often will forcefully cling to the closest person should she be in complete darkness or something close to it.
The scar on her nose was not from battle but from an accident she refuses to talk about.
