Description
What is a Birox ?
A birox is a species of flying mammals that have been created by scientists in a lab on a pacific island (Paradise Island). The species, birxes, were made to hunt, protect, fly messages far away, and to become great companions for all. The species DNA contains 60% avian and 40% vulpini. Some birxes however have different percentages of avian and vulpini in them. Some even have different traits such as fox faces, fox tails, and more.
Diet
The diet of a birox mostly is based of the species the vulpini and Avian DNA parents contained. For example, if a vulture and a crab eating fox were the DNA parents of a birox, then the birox would eat meats and insects. Typical birxes would eat things such as insects, meats, fish and plants. Some however can eat varieties of these food, and some can even eat birox food! ( pellets, seeds, etc. )
Origin
Birxes were made for one reason. Flying messages to different locations. Before the internet was made, that was their main goal. They would run, fly and track down the person they were suppose to deliver too and then come back to paradise island whenever the job was done. Eventually, mutations came along and different traits came along and the species had more advantages. Birxes were able to hunt for their owners, they were able to fight and protect their companions or owners, and they also became pets for the common family! Just like a dog, cat or a bird!
Grooming
Birxes shed all the time, new feathers, new fur, so they need constant grooming! Wild or Paradise Island birxes already know how to do this, but if you have a chit then you must know how to take care of it! It's like taking care of a bird and a dog at the same time. Birxes love baths ! Most will use a bird bath, or just jump into the bathtub in a house.
Chits
Chits are baby birxes. Chits are helpless without their mother and father, or their owners. They are flightless and fluffy, and have not sprouted feathers yet. They peep and howl for their parents and for attention, and are oblivious to danger. They will walk up to you and peep at you to pick them up, heck they'll even peep at snakes and other dangerous predators. They do not start sprouting feathers or their grown fur until they are about 3 months old, until then they are on the ground in a den until they are able to fly up into a nests. Sometimes a flock of birxes will have a 'nursery' set up for chits and will care for them all like a family.
Teenage ( Mature ) Birxes
Teen birxes are pretty much assholes. These are the ones that will fight over territory and mates, steal things from humans or other birxes, and tend to get a little aggressive. They're playful and friendly if they're not wild and with other birxes, but in the wild and in a flock they get rather aggressive and territorial. Especially the males. Their anatomy is rather weird because they're still growing. They have feathers now, but their fluffy coat is still there. It will be about 3 years before they become an adult.
Adult Birxes
After done with being a chit and teenager, these adult birxes are made to do anything. These are more passive creatures after learning how its like to survive and be the head of a flock. These birxes are capable to hunt, send messages, protect and be p much large dogs for their family or flock. They are not considered elders until they are 12. Adults have all their feathers and fur grown in, and shed twice every month.
Life span
1 - 45 years (oldest birox to live.)
The legendary birxes however cannot die.
Size
Depends on the bird their parent was!
Sick
Birxes get sick sometimes, and if humans don't help them, they'll die.
This is why sick Birxes will go to paradise island for help. And they will get it.
They also lose their feathers and shed a lot more, so if they lose to many feathers they won't be able to go to paradise island or find help soon enough and will die.
Mating and egg care
Birxes mate. Just like normal animals do.
They mate like normal vulpini species and canine species, and they lay eggs like a typical avian species.
Males AND females care for the egg, and even after the male still cares for the chit until it's a teenager.
Talking
If the birox 's parent was a bird with the capability to talk , then can. Including ravens too. Birds that can only sing, then they can only sing. If they can't speak , they can't speak. Thats it.
Flightless birxes are a thing too! So A birox can have the DNA of a penguin or a ostrich ! :0
QUESTIONS
Q: Can they have forked tongues ?
A: No.
Q: Do they get along with other avians and vulpinus?
A: Not so much. They have everything that birds and foxes would have, but a little more advanced. They are more territorial then a bird or fox, foxes tend to eat eggs and chits , and birds of prey can also do the same.
Q: Do they hunt each other?
A: Yes. Since some birxes are birds of prey , and other are as small as a common finch.. they do each and hunt each other. Hunting as the human sport however is not allowed. It's illegal, but it still happens. Having a dead birox on you isn't illegal, but , being caught hunting them is. The birox will be taken from the owner and given to a pound made for birxes, and the owner will go to jail.
Ask for questions please! :0
THIS IS A CLOSED SPECIES, NOT AN ORIGINAL SPECIES. I UNDERSTAND ITS JUST A BIRD AND FOX MIX TOGETHER.
