Description I had about 50 minutes between trains in Kassel, Germany, so I decided to go what the city had to offer, knowing that the most famous view is that of the Herkules looking down on the city. What were the odds that the closest trainstation to the Herkules was not the central station, but the one I was actually in! So after about a km. walk, I got to a vintage point where I got this shot off... hoping the Herkules would not lift into the air and fly far away!

Aww, thanks!

I'm sure that you can also make really good night shots, although... that depends on whether you can manually set the features of your camera! Maybe we can talk about it and I'll gladly tell you how!

the problem is my camera is not professional at all, so, for ea,ple, when i want to make a shot without flash it just set big exposure automatically... n so on...(

It all depends on your perspective.

Beautiful photo.

Grazie!
In the ones i took when I moved closer, the result was that the "spaceship" landed on the building below!

Very cool photo!! It does look like it's floating! Very nice taken photo! Although I think I'd like it more if it were centrered or a little to the left!

It still is an amazing photo!!

Hi!!
Thanks for the comment! I could always mirror it!

Actually, i was trying to decide which photo to upload: if this one, or one where I zoomed into both buildings and used "portrait" instead of landscape and it was therefore more centered. I decided to go with this one, because I figured it would give more of a "floating" effect than the close up. But then again, I'm still unable to really see the "float"

Glad you liked it!

I don't see the float too! I see two well lit buildings one on top of the other in contrast with the darkness that came from a fast shutter in the night! hehehe!

Looks really cool - was it really like that ?

hehe, what do you mean?
Herkules (the greenish thing on top) is located much further up the mountain. And as it is dark inbetween (no lighting on the forest), and would look like its floating!

That is exactly what I mean - it must have been an amazing sight

Personally, I liked it very much: but apparently people seeing the photo like it even more than actually being there. mostly because i "know" the 3-D of the photo, while viewers see only a 2-D layer!

strange shot... this buildings seems to float !!

TeamBundy In reply to dbee [2005-12-05 11:35:59 +0000 UTC]

hehe, that was what my sister told me!!! And that was also when i realized that photography is a lot harder to see, because I don't see it float, as I was there. But the viewer does not know what it is or how it is and that is how one is able to achieve impacts with photography!! Thanks for the comment!!

you're right... and flat pictures change real distances and perspectives.
photography can produce some strange distortions!
