Name: Star Fleur

Occupation: Model

Personality: A little prickly and often has a hard time connecting with other ponies. Has a sassy and slightly sarcastic side. Tends to say what comes to mind, even if it isn’t very nice. She’ll often reduce new assistants and models to tears, but never means to. She has a hidden motherly side and attempts to act as guidance for younger ponies with varying levels of success.

Biography: Star was born as the middle child of three sisters to a Pegasus father and Earth Pony mother. They were raised in Manehattan. From a very young age, the three sisters were expected to become big and successful ponies in careers that their father approved of.

As the middle sister, Star often felt like her parents were either focused on her older sister, who was the ‘test child’ of sorts as they learned how to parent, or on her younger sister, who was the ‘baby’ always seemed to demand their attention purely for the fact that she was the youngest. While she didn’t feel unloved, she did feel as though her parents attention was divided unfairly and sought to find ways to get their attention on her. At some point she discovered that if she caused trouble, she would get attention, not only from her parents, but from other ponies, and thus developed a very bratty attitude. She was teased a lot in school because of her long mane and tail, and often got into arguments and fights with other fillies and colts her age.

As she got older, she slowly realized that purposely picking fight with other ponies wasn’t a good idea, and eventually made friends with a filly her age named ‘Camerella’. For the first time, Star felt like she had someone who actually cared about her, and she reveled in the feeling. But she still had the pressure from her parents to make a strong future for herself, and she still didn’t have her cutie mark, despite the fact that both her older and younger sister had already obtained theirs.

Things changed when Camerella earned her cutie mark, finding her calling to be photography. She started taking pictures of things that she found pretty, including several photos of her best friend. It took some time to convince Star to pose for her, but when she did agree, she found that posing for the camera came naturally to her. She found that she could sit still and look pretty without issue. She felt like a beautiful flower that was slowly starting to bloom into perfection. And that is when her cutie mark appeared.

Years later, Camerealla found a job working underneath Photo Finish, and managed to sneak in a recommendation for Star, who was at the time working towards a career her father had recommended to her. Though her father disapproved of the idea, Star took up the job that Photo Finish offered her and began working as a model. With her long mane and tail and natural sassiness, she became a popular model quickly. She was a natural and had found her place. She found it ironic that although she had cursed her naturally long hair as a filly, it was what made her a success as a mare.

Though she still has a rocky relationship with her father and mother, she shares a strong bond with her two sisters, even though they both still remember her when she was a brat. She has found some close friends in the modeling world and couldn’t be happier with her place in life.

I didn't realize how close her name was to Star Butterfly's until after I named her, but I assure you that I had no intention of copying. Her name is Star Fleur because her parents wanted her to be able to shine like a star and yet retain the grace of a flower, something that she did end up doing, even if not in the way that they would have hoped.

I had so much fun drawing this pony and coming up with her background. I really want this character now so that I can draw her family and friends and create a life for her and all that. xD And I love her long mane and tail so much!
This is also the first time I've draw wings and been completely happy with how they turned out. :3
