Cosplay is taking over the world and our only surprise is what took it so long. There is so much to explore in this current Cosplay crusade. Let’s take a look beyond the headlines and thriving Con event circuit and get to the heart of what makes Cosplay so special to so many around the Earth Sphere. This is your chance to share with us the important elements, storylines, issues, and community members you would like to see highlighted.


To get this party started we’re running a series of profiles and tutorials throughout October starting with Lillyxandra .


Now there is the ongoing process of the multiplying and diversifying of distinct cosplay communities into so many different ways of coming together, online and in–person, to express themselves (not just becoming characters from manga, anime, comic books, graphic novels, videogames, TV & movies, but also transforming themselves with renaissance, fetish, “furry”, gender–reversal and even entirely Virtual immersions). It seems to us that what had once been an expression of group fandom, and then morphed into a sort of mass “political” expression of a specific cultural sensibility—is now becoming something more for some: a true commitment to a set of pop cultural characters, in their world and according to their rules and ethos.

At least, right now, rather than being circumscribed in your “identity” at all times by where you were born and to whom you were born… now it’s possible to don the costume of whomever you have chosen to be—the “identity” that is your free choice, not the one the world “gave” you without your permission.     1) Oh, thats difficult.... I like very fantastic Cosplays of Videogames or Movies.... maybe things like that

    2) I'd like to ask *kirawinter how long it takes to make hers

    3) It seems like people never mention how difficult it is to persuade the securitys on cons to let you in with all things you need for looking great!

    4) I didn't visit many last year, but Gamescom is great for anime and the Fantasydays are great for elves and so on (like I am too xD)

    5) I made myself a Seraphim Cosplay, its mostly ready now, I'm missing the shoes (this is the Seraphim you can choose to play at the Ascaron Sacred game) and I have an Harry Potter OC Cosplay now I really want to have a Cosplay for an elven witch none special but a dark one it should be ;D

    1. I would like to see the Cosplay whether pictorial or video.

    2. I am not sure of anyone who would be willing to share their process; because sometimes cosplayers sell their designs.

    3. The materials used in the process of designing Cosplay wear is usually not revealed; it would be good if some more light was shed on that area.

    4. Honestly, i cant say because my country does not have Cosplay or cons; which means i have never been to one.
    5. If i was to go as a character at a Con i would go as Hell Girl or Michiko to Hatchin

    I'm not into this world but I suppose the two things that makes a cosplay awesome and beautiful are: the cosplayer (of course) and the photographer, don't you think? Every cosplayer puts all of his effort on doing a good custom but is the second one who captures the intention and try to reflect the personality of the character they're cosplaying.

    I always loved the cosplay and loved the feeling of it. It's an amazing thing to see and to watch portrayed by the people. My one friend has gotten me into it, but I still need to find the "right" cosplay that would work for a first-timer....well not really. She says I make a good Russia in looks.     I've been cosplaying for years and i've always done it as a fun hobby, its fun to create a character you've seen on screen or in a manga, its fun to make others happy when they recognise you, and its fun to have a community that shares all the same feelings and belifes as you.
    The only issue i've ever had in the British cosplay community is the recent increase in people that arrive at cons and meets to just mess about. They don't seem to consider others or the effort others put in to the day, i use to help run a local group until this issue pushed many long running members out as they felt uncofortable with the atmosphere the new member created.
    Otherwise this aritical is amazing at highlighting the cosplaying community.

    Its a big community, con's usch as Hyper Japan, Kitacon, London MCM, Midlands MCM, Manchester MCM, Tokonatsu and cosplay sites such as Cosplay Island are all UK based. Over the last two years its grown alot.

    I'd like to be able to see a brent history of cosplay in general. How did it get to being so widespread? I would also like to see an interview with TaniDAreal. She makes these really cool firsuits. And there are some people who dress up in redicously complex suits to become monsters and animals. All I want to know is : how do they eat? And how do they perform their ... Bodily functions?

    I make cosplay costumes all the time. I think one thing that is missed by a lot of people who enjoy viewing the costumes is all the little details put in. The more subtle certain layers of the costume are, the more 3D the character becomes.
