Beeeeeeep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Beeeeeeep. The blasts of an angry horn resounded throughout the jam packed streets that surrounded Chidorigafuchi park. People laughed and talked as they strolled along the pathways, zigzagging throughout the park. All were perfectly content with their little facades, all save one who knew the truth. She didn't want to know the truth but she had too. The distraught girl was sitting under the branches   of a cherry blossom tree which happened to be in bloom. But she couldn't partake in the happiness and beauty around, it had been tainted with the ugly truth. The girl had began to question her thoughts, her actions, her words. She began to question herself - you.

How could he...how could he do such a thing to us....to me, you pondered as tears streamed down your cheeks. The hands of time began to rewind as you asked yourself one last question, "Hitomi why?"

Screaming. You remembered the screaming and how it followed you wherever you went. After countless twists and turns, your little legs began to tire from running at unsustainable speeds. No matter what you did, they seemed to be right at your tail. The rain didn’t make it any better. Flashing lights pursued you as you ran for freedom, ran for your life and ran straight into your destiny.

"Omph! Ack! Owww!" you exclaimed as you tripped over a water pipe that jutted into the street. You tumbled, abrading your skin against the concrete, before finally collapsing in a pile of trash bags. You struggled to your feet as sharp searing pain raced up from ankle. You looked down to see your left foot contorted to a lurid angle. I can't give up now. Not after how far I've come. So a (height) figure hobbled off into the clutches of the forgiving night.

Looking for a place to stay, you came upon a box. It was a fairly nice one too. Long enough for you to lie down with legs extended and tall enough to leave some room when you sat up. It was inconspicuous, no it was perfect. You had finally found a place to call your own - a home.

You lost track of time inside of your box. There no one could hurt you again. There you were safe or so you thought. The sound of bullets cut through the silence of the night. You awoke startled and scared. You had hoped...but alas it wasn't true. They had come back for you. It was the only logical idea in this world of irrationality. You limped around preparing to make a break for it. Tentatively opening the box flaps, you checked to see if the coast was clear only to be surprised at the site before your eyes. There stood a boy no older than you. His raven hair flew around him as bolts lighting seemed to emanate from him. You gazed at him, flabbergasted. Never in your time life had you meet, heck even seen some like you. Of course you had your suspicions back in the lab but you possessed no sound proof to back it up. At that moment the boy turned to face you, apparently while you stared at him, he had taken care of his assailant. That last thing you saw, before you ducked back into your box, was his eyes. His clear, calm grey eyes. You immediately knew he wasn't one of them. They had a certain look in their eyes that was irreplaceable and unmistakable.

Suddenly the flaps of the box flew open and before you sat a little boy. No one had been this close to you before. They had told you were a monster and destined to be isolated from others forever. Apparently, he hadn't gotten the memo. You studied the boy intently. His onyx hair was pretty long for a boy but fitted his ashen eyes. You instinctively backed away as his hand reached out towards you. "I'm not here to hurt," he said softly. You looked up at him, eyes wide with disbelief. "My name is Hitomi. What's yours," he questioned with a smile. "(Y..y...y/n)" you managed to stutter. "(Y/n)...that's a pretty name," he thought aloud. "Thank you" you paused "I saw you" you started cautiously. "I know" "I didn't know anyone else could do that." "Wow, you can do it too?" "Yeah, wanna see?" You asked excitedly. "Yeah" Your little legs swayed as you leveled your breathing. Inhale, Exhale, Inhale, Exhale. You concentrated on your surroundings as your fell into your attack stance. Then it happened. The world began to swirl violently around you . Hues danced and skipped around your little bubble. You became the eye in the midst of a tumultuous storm. As the winds began to draw closer to your body, you directed a zephyr towards a cat. The unfortunate being had been grooming itself when suddenly it was tossed around in the air like a balloon. For reasons unbeknownst to you, you decided to show the little boy your other power. No one knew of it, not even them. You were blessed with enough smarts to keep it to yourself. You focused on breaking part the subparticles of the atmosphere and reconfiguring them into water. The poor cat was doused in a tiny typhoon. You stood up with a proud smile on your face. "Woah that was cool!" Hitomi shouted. "Thanks" you smiled.

The memory brought a small smile to your desolate face. It was the cute times like that the two of you enjoyed together. Well, not to say that you two didn’t have your share of misadventures. The way the two of you joined Eden is probably the weirdest story of them all.

"Are you sure about this Hitomi?" You were torn into between going along with his plans and chickening out. "We have to do this. If what we saw is right, we have to help these people." "If we get in trouble. I'm blaming you." You concluded as hopped across the gravel trying to catch up. "Look" "Where" "Over there," he said taking your hand. He pointed at the huge metal gates that had suddenly appeared. You stared up perplexed about what exactly could be held behind these bars. "(Y/n)!" You turned, only to see Hitomi's head disappear. Running over to where Hitomi used to be (or better yet his head), you saw a huge hole. You stuck your head in it. "Hello," you called out. "Hello...Heelloo...Heeelllooo..." The hole echoed back. You pulled your head out. I could go in and have Hitomi scare and make a cool of myself or stay out here and miss out on the fun. "Don't forget about being teased," an intrinsic and cynical voice prodded you. Yeah, you thought narrowing your eyes, I forgot about that. In a rush of emotions, you stood up and jumped into the inky darkness, plunging feet first to your death. "At first. I didn't think you were coming," a voice commented. You shot 10 ft in the air. "That isn't nice, Hitomi." "Encouragement is for sissies." "Hmphf," you turned, prepared to storm off. "You know it's the other way," a teasing voice called out from behind. You stuck your nose in the air, turned around, and stalked past Hitomi, while he shrugged his shoulders.

"How much longer?" you whined. "Not much," Hitomi called back. "That's what you said the other 20 times I asked you." "You kept count?" Hitomi questioned slightly amused. "No," you shouted back defiantly, "Yes." You answered quietly. Hitomi laughed. "Well, if you had to army crawl sleeveless in a filthy, metal air vent. You would not be -" "Shhhh!" "Rude muc-" "Shhh, look." You followed Hitomi's gaze to the slits in the metal beneath you. Through the it you saw a fairly ordinary reception area. You turned, puzzled, to Hitomi seeking an explanation. "Look, that's the person we saw earlier taken by the van," he whispered. You looked and lo behold the person was. "Woah...well, what are we supposed to do now?" "I don't know." "You don't know," you stated incredulously, "If you don't know, why did we come here?" That was the last thing you said, as the vents beneath you gave way and the two of you plummeted towards the floor. The two of you lifted your heads as the dust settled. "Umm...hi," you said sheepishly. A group of buff men clad in black loomed over you."You kids are in a lot of trouble."

The two of you followed the men through musty dimly lit halls, scared out of your minds. "What do you think they're going to do to us," you asked Hitomi. "I don't know," he responded. You turned back to the men, worried about what would become of you. Coming to a stop in front of ominous looking doors, you and Hitomi shared a nervous glance before being pushed forward by the men behind you. "We're so glad you could finally make it." The voice prompting both of you to lift your head to find the source of the sound. "We've know about you for a long time." Another voice chimed. "And we are pleasantly pleased with your abilities, young ones." A third voice interjected. "Which is why we called you here." The first voice concluded. "Called," you repeated. "We came because we know this place is up to no good and we won't allow it," Hitomi declared as he glared at the voices, accusingly. The voices laughed.  "Do you really think, that of a group of random strangers could call a group of kids to their office and that no one would question it. Of course not. We needed a ploy to draw you here of your own free will." The first voice explained.  "And we have a proposition for the two of you." The seconded voice added. "Proposition, hah you're in no position to be haggling with us," you shouted. "There is no room for opposition. If you don't agree to the terms, you can be sure there will be consequences." "What are your terms," Hitomi inquired. Gawking, you turned to him and wondered how he could deal with the enemy so nonchalantly. "All we ask is for you to join us in serving the state." The third voice answered, the most pleasant of them all. "And no one will get hurt," Hitomi questioned. "None at all," the three voices concluded simultaneously. "Then,"Hitomi hesitated, "(Y/n) and I will join you."

The anger and confusion of that moment surging through you again, probably due to the recent events of these past weeks. You thought about how the two of you grew up in Eden. You knew about how Hitomi became the Ace and how hard he took the deaths of his past team. You understood why he did and what he did for his current team. You began to laugh when remembering the first time you meet Hitomi's team. You sighed remembering the countless evenings spent on Hitomi's favorite hill that overlooked a river. Which promptly reminded about the first time you saw Hitomi go lost. You thought about the first time you had ever seen Hitomi and how it scared you to death.

“So, how’s the hero holding up,” you asked sitting down beside Hitomi. He laughed. “Its been hard,” he replied. You noticed the distant look in his eyes when he asked you, “Are were doing the right thing?” “What do you mean?” “What if we’re fighting for the wrong side, (y/n)?” “Well, do you remember what you told me to do whenever I'm in doubt?” Hitomi turned curious to hear what you would said. You faced away from him, eyes trained on the sunset and said, “That whatever happens, you are there for me and so I’m here for you too. If you think something is up, I’ll believe you,” you finished with a soft smile. Hitomi turned to face the sunset too. “Maybe I’m just paranoid,” he said with a sigh. “Well, you’ve haven’t been yourself for the past few days,” you added.  “ (Y/n)..” “Hmm” “Do you want... I mean...Would you like to...*sigh*… What I’m trying to say is-”  Hitomi’s drivel was the last thing on your mind as he collapsed on to the ground in front of you. “Hitomi...Hitomi...HITOMI,” you shouted as you shook him. In the middle of freaking out, you noticed the steady rise and fall of his chest. You sat back relieved and then moaned upon realizing what this meant. You were happy that your friend wasn’t dead but discouraged at the prospect of hauling him all the way home.  Standing up, you hauled Hitomi on to your back. So, this is your lost form, you thought. No wonder you’re so obsessed with sleep. And with that, you began the long trek back home.

You and Hitomi always helped one another out. The day after meeting Eden, you pledged to each other to always have one another’s back and that was a promise neither of you broke. It seemed though that Hitomi helped you out more than you did him. But this time you were determined to do something. Knowing immediately what to do, you stood up from underneath the cherry blossom tree and looked at the sky, before jogging off to Sky Tower.
