Three dimensional go has been attempted before, and on a simpler scale than this one. Even that form is excessively complex to the point of making the game unplayable.

And Go isn't complicated. You can learn the rules in five minutes.

Mastering it is almost impossible, but the game itself is still mind bogglingly simple. All of the rules can be learned in five minutes.

On joseki: in my opinion, joseki isn't really something you "master." From my understanding, from dan players, joseki isn't even something to actively learn, but rather a pattern recognition skill picked up automatically after so many games.

You can benefit from studying it, but you have to work to understand the point behind the moves, why other possible moves are considered worse, and when the final result of the sequence is actually going to benefit you more than your opponent based on the rest of the board

I've been out of it for so long simply for lack of anyone to play in person.  I wish the scene was bigger here.

I've been trying to start one.  Have tried several times to get my neighbor to play me in some public place (like park bench on a busy day or something) to get other people's attention.  He's never up for it
