My thoughts about this design:
Sharpening of the whole design? I wouldn't do that.
Some text is quite small. "Read more" buttons under two columns look like they didn't fit.
In "The Scoop" the buttons on the right have too much weight compared to the text on the left. It should be other way around.

Thanks for the critique, but client has already approved it. The reason why those buttons have more weight is so the people can use them and not over look them after they are finished reading the articles.

That type of red are not so clean to use into one website, but you know how to use well and impress me... congratz!

hmmm really? I can read it perfectly fine. It's not a solid red either. Not sure if its your screen or just me, but i'll see what the client says.
