The shield is a thin piece of plastic embedded in the sculpting medium.  They sell it with the architectural modelling supplies, and it scratches quite easily.  It was a bit nerve-wracking to work with but it came out alright!

Hey there!  Yes, busy - also I almost never get on DA anymore (as evidenced by it taking me more than a year to write back lol)
