Jaguars themselves are solitary creatures by nature, usually only spending time with another to mate and raise cubs. Noctifer hates being in the crowded company of the city and will subsequently sleep with his owner or spend most of his time on the outskirts of the city, on rooftops, or in the empires' territories.

Noctifer walks like he's hot stuff because he knows he's hot stuff, and while he won't necessarily boast about his skills, he will certainly take compliments with an 'Of course I'm amazing' sort of attitude. Don't expect him to be very modest regarding his looks or skills.

Obedient/Disciplined
".. Sí señor."

Noctifer will obey his handler and anybody he recognizes as a higher rank than himself unquestioningly and without hesitation almost every time. To a point. He has a job to do, but if he feels like he's being directed to do something he feels is pointless and/or unnecessary, he'll let his thoughts be heard. Other than that, he will behave and won't jump ears-first into something he knows he isn't prepared for.

Selfish
"Don't you dare try and take my capture. I can take care of it myself!"

Noctifer doesn't have many personal possessions, but will fiercely protect the ones he does have. He also hates being assisted on hunts and captures, seeing it as a personal insult to himself and his skill. This could eventually be a major downfall.

Distrustful
"And why should I take your word for that?"

Growing up in a primarily loveless environment with so much resentment in his heart and hatred in his head, Noctifer never actually learnt to love or trust. It wasn't in his job description. Plus, he and Ernesto tended to move around quite a bit, hardly staying in one area for more than a year at a time. There was no time to trust someone enough that it would actually matter- though Noctifer has seemed to take up his handler's possessive streak.

Adaptable
"It's fine, I'll take care of things. I'm good at winging it."

Short of the sky and cliffsides, Jaguars are comfortable on most any terrain- though this particular one hates the snow and ice. This allows for an easier time hunting in the various territories, pursuing erroneous cats and prey animals across rivers, over plains, and up trees. This, combined with Noctifer's flexible way of thinking allows him to quickly change courses and plans with relative ease.

Calm
"Stop spouting nonsense. Makes you look like a hyperactive cub.."

Noctifer isn't hyper or really excitable, approaching most situations with an analytical, predatory mind; though he doesn't mind the occasional chatter and joke. Taunts and trash-talk hardly rile him up either, thinking it's just a silly ruse to get him to lose his composure and slip-up. Noctifer generally won't trash-talk either unless what he's saying is true or he can back it up, otherwise what's the point? Sure he's calm and generally nonplussed, but he won't hesitate to bat at rambunctious cubs getting underpaw. Also likes napping.

Background

Noctifer was stolen as a cub from his mother in southern Central America. His handler thought his pelt was gorgeous and originally intended to use him as a breeder, but he'd always either avoid the female or attack her- rendering the idea impossible. This led Ernesto to eventually train Noctifer to hunt and retrieve items and prey. The wealth, if one could call it that, he had amassed by virtue of his "pet" led him to the lovely city of Massilia where he could potentially gain even more riches and prestige by sending Noctifer to go fetch a few mangy wildcats.

His indifferent attitude and unhesitant obedience towards capturing empire cats was definitely a plus, and paired with his experience made him a definite asset for the hunter programme. But Noc hated his handler. He won't refer to him as his owner or master of any sort, the memory of being torn away from his mother before she was shot in her hindlegs and then bludgeoned and left to die still fresh in his mind despite the years that have passed. He'll still obey and keep his claws off of Ernesto for the time being- having nowhere else to go or really any plan for his future, but the man feeds him good food and cares for him, so he'll continue to follow.

For now, he would just bide his time, dragging cats that were protecting their own away to the city and sharpening his claws, waiting for the fated day when everything comes together that he could have his revenge. He just needed things to fall into place and a little push. Maybe he could eventually find peace and a friend or lover that could finally help him feel; but until then, this misguided jaguar will continue being consumed by his own loathing.
