Description
16 inches tallVersion 2 of my skeleton lamp, the older version is in my submissions.
Fully functional lamp with an art noveau design and a skeleton atop a stopwatch.
Each bone was intricately carved one by one, and you can be certain none were left out.
Was featured at this years CCACA. Also won 2 awards in an art contest- was juried best sculpture, and was voted overall best by audience.
Won third place at America's Clayfest (formerly Feats Of Clay), juried by Richard Shaw himself.
Sculpted from groggy cone 10 eathenware clay, and then salt fired with minimal application of flashing slip on the skeleton, and black iron oxide wash on the base.

Terrific sculpture, this make great lighting decor in any study, library, bedroom, crypt, ect. Your details are amazing, I understand why this was given a DD.

This is the second time I have sculpted this, because the first time I was not satisfied. However, since the skeleton portion is way too complicated to cast, if I wanted a copy I would have to re-sculpt it. I plan to, but when I sell them they will be very expensive. Sooo flattered you are interested

This is incredibly well designed and executed. I'd actually been thinking of trying to sculpt a giraffe lamp for my son, Kirin. I wasn't sure if I'd be able to create something of the sort on my own and kind of let go of the idea, but now I'm really inspired to give it a shot!

I made it on a super tight schedule, had to crash cool a couple kilns, but right until we closed the door on the kiln I was hurriedly etching more detail into the metatarsals. It feels so extravagant to me to work small. Glad you appreciate it!
