Okay, I think this is acceptable as a final version. I have learned so much while working on this, I think now I have to go on and apply my newfound knowledge to other images.Thank you very much everyone for your suggestions and hints -- through your help this has become a much better piece than I could have ever managed alone.
While I can still see room for improvement, I have decided to draw the line here, otherwise I'll never start another picture again.
I might still tweak it a little if I decide I forgot something important, but so far this is it. Thanks again!I will also do a desktop wallpaper version soon since a few people mentioned they'd like to have one.
About the picture: I wanted to do a married Sesshou/Kagome in a more courtly setting. This might be set in the far future where they have a large court and a lot of social and political responsibilities. This is them either unwinding from or getting ready for a day full of intrigue and veiled power play -- I wanted to capture an intimate moment on the edge between powerful miko/youkai ruler and their more private persona where they're simply a couple who are comfortable with each other.

ummm, kagomes ear looks a little low, but i've been meaning to ask you, the pink of kagome's face, it's a base color whcih you will build on? i'm asking because i'm extremely new to coloring anything in photoshop, let alone skin.
it really is absolutely beautiful so far...i see nothing i can critisize.

Yes, her ear is absolutely too low since I changed the tilt of her face. I will have to fix that in the next sitting.
The pink was a base colour, yes. I think she needs to look darker than Sesshoumaru, but the strong colour will change with the highlights.

Hmmm..... Kagome's ear seems a bit less detailed than Sesshoumaru's.... and a bit low, but other than that nothing seems wrong to me. I love Sesshoumaru in your style. He's so beautiful. As well as Kagome, wonderful work! And: Wicked-awesome pairing.

Kagome's ear is indeed too low -- I'll change it and do the detailing on the ears in a while.
And thanks for not bitching to me about the pairing -- I never knew people even care in fanart but I suppose I'm wrong.

Heh, I love the pairing actually. You won't hear any rants from me. Then again you're talking to someone who finds just about any pairing in InuYasha cute, unless it's with Jaken.

This picture is going to be so good. ~,~...well..suggestions if you really want them..Kagomes ear is a little to low for my persoal likeing..and..well...Nothing else I can find wrong. Except Sesshoumarus eyes are a yellow not blue..but I prefer that blue *drool* and hmm....Thas it..other than that. Your art is beyond superb and..well Im so happy I am stalking you. ^_^ Keep up the dazzleing works.

Thanks for the ear hint -- I noticed that too and it will be corrected.
I know Sesshou's eyes are yellow, but such a transparent colour reacts to baground lighting a lot, which is bluish. So they'll end up a light green with yellow flecks when I'm done with them.

Looking very nice... I love the glow you've imparted to the skin. I agree with the poster who mentioned Kagome's ear is slightly too low. And Sesshy's eyebrow is very sketchy which makes it look oddly pasted over his hair. But that's easy enough to fix. I'm also curious... what program are you using?

The eyebrow is indeed sketchy -- I'll refine it more soon, and the final version of the hair will be painted on top of that so it won't look pasted anymore. I hope.
I'm using Painter. The version that came with my Intuos tablet, which I'm not using since it's too large to fit on the desk. Righnt now I'm still using my tiny graphire for these quick sittings, but I'll get a new desk soon.

It just...makes me...so....sad...to see you continually supporting one of the most absurd "couplings" out there. No respect for the story or characters at all.

Well. The pairing inspires me, partly because I've read at least one truly excellent story featuring them, partly because in my eyes, there is potential for a matured love that grows out of a certain grudging respect. Also, I don't think that the first love is necessarily the only one, and I also don't think Inuyasha and Kagome would have much to say to each other when it's all over, which I happen to think is an important part of a relationship.
So. This is an adult Kagome, and it is my firm belief that she and Sesshoumaru would challenge each other intellectually if she were to stay in the Sengoku Jidai (and everywhere else too, for that matter). Also, this is fanart -- no details were given. Who is to say that this does take place in the past? Maybe it's the present, or even the far future. A lot of things can change in hundreds of years.
This is not a matter of disrespect just because I like a coupling you dislike. I see the story differently from you, and the characters too. To me they always have more layers and even more of both darkness and compassion than they seem to on the surface.
In addition I'm not a canon slave, I've never been. The story is there for my enjoyment, not the other way around.

The crescent and stripes are things I do towards the end (or is some cases, forget to do -- as it happened with my previous Sesshoumaru pic). I will add them before I start to work properly on his hair.

As for suggestions.. I think Kagome's ear is a bit low. And Sesshoumaru looks extremely pale, but I'm not sure why. His skin isn't really that pale, and I didn't even notice how ghostly he looked until I saw the thumbnail. Sooo... I'm not sure how you could fix that, assuming you even wanted to. o_O

Yep, the ear is low. *nods* I like Sesshou's paleness however... the effect in the full picture is the one I'm concerned with. I know the thumbnail should look good, but I won't out too much effort in that. If this goes my way, the picture should become very detailed and the details will be wasted on the thumb anyway.
