The way all these bits and pieces curl in a series of crescent-shaped parts interests me. Although I've seen such effect at least once before, I'm still trying to figure out how to do the effect. Anyways, this is a wonderful piece.

the cresent shaped parts were made in illustrator using the blend tool. the 3d twirls were made in c4d.
