Making an Entrance

“Arrival in 20 minutes and counting!” the alert over the Helicarrier speakers went off.

Everyone on-board from the heroes to the S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and staff scrambled to be ready once they arrived at Starkiller Base. From the command deck Fury and Maria Hill took charge with pilot the ship, readying all weapons and defenses for when they made the in-coming strike on the planet-sized space station.

Below in the hanger all the heroes, led by Captain America, readied as well. Some like Iron Man, Black Panther, the Incredibles and Baymax made sure their armors were in as optimum condition as could be for the big fight ahead. The Jedi and Mulan double-checked their lightsabers while others like Hawkeye, Merida, Rocket, Star-Lord and Han Solo made sure their weapons were fully locked and loaded. Some of the others, like Aladdin, Jasmine, Anna, Elsa and Merida, were given more combat-worthy clothes and suits provided by S.H.I.E.L.D. for the coming fight; along with some added pieces given by the other heroes.

At one point Han had given a spare blaster to Aladdin, who was with Jasmine, and said “Here, kid. Don’t want to have to save your end all the time.”

Carefully he took it, thanked Han, and asked “Uh...how does this thing work exactly?”

“Easy: just point the right end at the bad guys and fire.” He indicated nozzle of the blaster. “And if you hit one of us, don’t do it again.” Jasmine then asked where hers was, to which he replied “Last thing I’m doing is given a gun to a princess.”

She pouted at him before Gamora walked over and handed her one, saying “Here. At least prove you’re a better shot than this empty-headed oaf.” Indicating Han.

After this Cap had called “Alright. Everyone suited up and ready?”

Most looked around before Ant-Man had asked “Hang on. Where’s Thor? And Spider-Man?”

“Hiro’s not here either.” Violet had pointed out.

Dropping down from above Spidey called “You were saying?”

When he was on the ground everyone was surprised to see his costume had changed. Some had almost not recognized the wall-crawler as he’d gone from a colorful red and blue to a sleek, black suit.

“Wow.” Dash had said. “That’s so cool!”

“Going back to black, kid?” Iron Man asked. “Isn’t that symbiote dangerous for you?”

“It was.” Hiro replied as he entered the room as well. “Thankfully we managed to install a neural dampener in Spidey’s mask before it latched onto him.”

“Basically I’m keeping control of it instead of the other thing around.” Spidey had explained in simple terms.

Rocket then pointed out “Don’t get too attached, kid. I still got a few thousand units on that stuff when this is over.”

“I am Groot.”

“Hell no! You get your own share!”

Looking around still Anna had asked “So if Spidey’s here then where’s…?”

As if on cue the door into the hanger opened with Thor entering. The thunder god was dressed in his best armor and ready for battle but he wasn’t alone. Coming in behind him was Bruce Banner, carefully following his friend while some of the heroes tensed or backed away.

Seeing some of the frightened faces Bruce huffed a smirking “Please, I only look this bad because I haven’t showed in a few days.”

Looking to Thor Elsa Merida had asked “You let him out?”

“We need as many allies as we can for this fight.” Thor explained. “Besides, Tony Stark and King T’Challa have already made an agreement with our friend here, yes?”

Rubbing a spot on his arm Bruce replied “Yeah. Doesn’t mean I have to like it.”

Elsa had reacted as well, looking a little beside herself. Anna had noticed and asked but her sister waved it away as nothing serious. Meanwhile Cap had moved through the crowd to talk with Bruce face-to-face.

“You sure about this?” he asked.

“Cap, those jerks played around with my mind, tossed me out of a ship, and made me attack some of the other friends I’ve ever had. Never been surer of anything in my whole life.”

As Cap nodded his approval another alert went out across the ship, Fury’s voice calling “Arrival in five minutes! Get ready down there. This is always the hard part of the job: making sure we don’t die when we crash.”

“Crash?” Rey asked. “I thought we were supposed to land.”

“‘Supposed to’ being the key phrase.” Hawkeye replied. “Another part of the job.”

“We’ll be alright.” Cap assured before asking “Is our infantry team ready?”

“And waiting, Captain.” Panther replied, speaking for himself and everyone else in the secondary team.

Nodding Cap said “Wait for their attention to draw on us. Then you take the quinjet, stick to stealth mode, and get to the command center. Find Natasha, Sparrow and get the Infinity Stones away from Thanos.”

As Panther nodded there were some last minute goodbyes among some in the team. Elsa and Anna hugged as tightly as Dash and Mr. Incredible did for Violet and Mrs. Incredible. Wasp and Ant-Man held hands and whispered theirs to each other while Rey and Han could only exchange a quick but profound nod to each other.

After that Han pointed out “Just want to say I still have opposition to this plan of ours. I mean it’s only a dozen of us against a whole army.”

Bruce Banner had laughed a little before saying “Yeah. Feel really sorry for them.”

“Agreed.” Master Yoda added. “Size in numbers not always a winning factor it is. Strength in skill and mind will win the most.”

With everything out of the way Cap had called “This is it!” He addressed the whole group as he said “Everyone, no matter what happens: it’s been an honor to serve with all of you.” Many nodded as he continued “We all have something to fight for today. A home. A family. Friends. Loved ones. Do it for them! Remember that. Today you’re more than heroes: today you’re all Avengers!”

A collective cheer gave from nearly everyone. Captain America’s words had been inspiring enough to encourage all of them. Some had nodded or clapped while others felt they could take on the whole enemy force on their own.

When the alarm went off within the hanger bay, the red lights and sirens blaring, Cap called to everyone “Get ready! Let’s show Thanos and his friends what happen when they mess with our realities!”

“Enemies inbound!” the alarm through the command center of Starkiller base blared. “Arrival in five minutes!”

From within the command center all of the troops and officers from the Galactic Empire, Droid Army and HYRDA scrambled to their battle stations. Grand Admiral Thrawn was in command of the assault, looking over from his post in the command deck as all the heavy-duty batteries were being armed and ready.

Thanos watched from his lair in the command center from his monitors as both the inside and outside forces readied. While the main weapons were being primed from within outside his forces were ready to deal with any survivors from the soon-to-be crashed ship. The Grandmaster, Darth Vader and Loki accompanied him as he sat and watched with a growing excitement, his hand caressing the Infinity Gauntlet next to him.

“Not a very wise strategy.” Loki commented. “Coming in head on when they know they face an army.”

“Underestimating an enemy can cost a battle.” Darth Vader replied. “Be wary. I sense there’s more to this than it seems.”

“Let them come.” Thanos only huffed. “I look forward to watching them fall.”

“And if they don’t?” the Grandmaster asked.

“Then I will crush them. Simple as that.” Thanos waved his question off. “And this will only prove another victory, Grandmaster. As you’ll soon see.”

As Thanos finished speaking a countdown had begun with “Arrival in 5… 4… 3… 2… 1….”

From Thanos’ monitor, the view from the command center, and outside where the armies all stood, all looked to see the approach of the Helicarrier. Oddly, however, there was no sign of it. Nothing but clouds and the cold.

As soon as some had questioned where the heroes were a reading from one of the command center’s radars went off. The ship was there alright but too late had they realized it was cloaking itself, the delay of confusion long enough for the Helicarrier’s weapons to open fire below.

The forward cannons tore through some of the forces in the field, obliterating them in a second. On Colonel Fury’s he Helicarrier’s weapons now aimed for the anti-air craft cannons and squadron of TIE fighters heading right for them. From below those that had blasters opened fire as well, showing the Helicarrier that Starkiller base was defended to the teeth.

From within their cells both Jack Sparrow and the Black Widow could hear the fighting from outside. The low but apparent booms of cannon fire and the rumbling of impact were enough for both to know that the fighting had begun.

“Guess that’s our cue.” Widow said, looking to see that Jack had already freed himself.

Standing outside her cell he shrugged “Sorry, were you saying something?”

A little annoyed she replied “Just get me out of here.”

Using the key-card he had stolen Jack was able to free her as he did himself. Now both free Widow indicated for him to follow her as they made their way carefully through the halls of the command center’s prison cells. They were careful as they tried to make their way out while avoiding sight from any of the guards still on patrol.

Eventually they found one path blocked by at least five Stormtroopers, all armed but unaware of their escape. Of course they were distracted by the firefighting going on outside to have truly noticed but Widow made sure she and Sparrow were still around the corner and away from them as she needed to think of a plan.

“How good are you in a fight?” she asked Sparrow.

“I’d be better if I had my sword. A pistol would be nice.” He answered.

She took another look around the corner and said “Alright. Just follow my lead.”

After Sparrow nodded Black Widow turned and rushed down the hallway, the guards noticing all too late as she pounced on them. She leapt into the air and caught one’s head between her legs, twisting until his neck snapped. She used her bodyweight and through him into another trooper as she landed on her feet, jumping out of the way of blaster fire. She reached another and managed to grab his blaster before whirling her body around him to knock him to the ground before two more approached, she giving a roundhouse kick to knock their weapons away as she dealt with them hand-to-hand.

The whole time he watched her the whole time Sparrow was speechless as he watched Widow take on all of them on her own. Showing her trained fighting skills in action in hand-to-hand combat he’d never seen anything like it before, not even fully realizing that she had finished with all of them so soon.

As one trooper tried to get to his feet Jack kicked him in the helmet and said “And stay down!” before giving her a smirk.

She nodded “Nice work.”

Suddenly Jack, seeing something coming from behind her, reached down to grab for the trooper’s blaster. Black Widow ducked out of instinct as he fired, hitting another trooper right in the chest armor as he tried to get to his feet.

Seeing the firepower the blaster had done Jack looked at it and smiled “I like this thing.”

After grabbing a blaster for herself Widow gestured “Come on. Plenty more where that came from.”

The Helicarrier was now under heavy fire. From below the command center cannons and armies collective blasters were causing havoc on the hull while the ship’s weapons were too distracted dealing with the TIE fighters that swarmed like flies.

As some of the Imperial Officers cheered Thrawn had peered with an uneasy intent. The Chiss grand admiral had been through enough fights to know when an enemy was doomed from the start and to know when a distraction was in play. And right now this seemed to be more or one than the other.

Suddenly he heard an officer call “Admiral! Radar’s picking up something else coming in from the right!”

“Another ship?”

“No, sir. It’s smaller.”

“A fighter?”

“No. Smaller!”

Thrawn had to see for himself, walking towards the nearest window to see what was coming. So his shock indeed it was not a ship or a fighter but a man. No, not a man. A god!

Thor flew towards the command center with his hammer twirling furiously in the air. Black clouds of thunder roared as he summoned the storm to follow in his wake, drawing all the energy of electricity as possible from it.

As Thrawn realized what was about to happen he turned and ran, calling “Out of the way!” pushing past any officers nearby.

As he finally reached his peak Thor smirked “Gotcha.” Before blasting a powerful bolt of electricity right at the command center.

The bolt struck the hull of the base, sending a surge of energy through the entire structure that began to short out all the systems. From the control center to the prison cell block to even in Thanos’ chambers everything sparked and surged before going dead. The anti-air craft weapons went down as well, giving a clear path for the Helicarrier, badly damaged but still flying, to make a landing.

As all of this dawned on Thanos he sneered “Clever.” He then turned and addressed “Loki. Go. Ready our forces with the other generals. None of them make it off this planet alive.”

Loki bowed before backing up into the shadowy part of the room. In an instant he had disappeared from it and soon reappeared walking out of the command center into the battlefield where other villains were waiting. Among them were Jafar, Maleficent, the Green Goblin, Ultron and Boba Fett.

After appearing to them Maleficent turned and asked “Is it time?”

He nodded his reply “Indeed, Maleficent. Tell that mechanical maniac he can begin the assault as soon as they land.”

Boba Fett nodded before using his communicator to say “General Grievous: Send in the vanguard. Time we show this heroes our teeth.”

From the other side of the battlefield, ready to lead his assembled forces, the Separatist General Grievous gave a wheezing {Just what I’ve been looking forward too. Hehehehe.} Seeing as the Helicarrier was landing nearby he pointed and ordered {Forward! Crush them all!}

The vanguard forces consisted of mainly the infantry troopers. Stormtroopers, Battle Droids, Chitauri foot soldiers and Ultron-Bots swarmed towards the ship as it was forced to touch down on the surface, weapons drawn and ready to fire.

As they came closer nothing seemed to happen. No weapons fired. No attack. Not even a signal flare or anything. All of them looked around, questioning if the heroes were even on the ship, before a large door on the hull began to open.

“Open fire!” one of the troopers ordered, everyone doing do.

A cloud of smoke and dust bellowed up as the door opened, all manner of blaster beams and other shots firing into it. Finally there was a call for a cease fire as they waited to see if they had any effect, the smoke blocking any view of the inside of the ship.

Their response came when two arrows had shot into the air, striking at droids right in their heads before causing small explosions that took out some nearby. A rocket fist shot out and plowed through some of the Chitauri before returning to the armored robot who fired it. Several smaller blasts were fired, hitting their targets, and even a few web-balls had shot out and managed to knock out two of the Stormtroopers struck by them. Two blurs of speeding heroes whizzed around and took out nearly all the others they missed in the blink of an eye before returning to the smoky cover. The last was Captain America’s shield, whizzing out like a deadly Frisbee and knocking the heads off a few droids before returning to him.

From where he stood General Grievous gave a furious {What?!?} at the sight.

A figure began to emerge from the ship and smoke. Captain America stepped forward with his shield and lightsaber in hand; unignited. Obi-Wan Kenobi came next, walking just behind him to his right and looking forward to the army they had to fight. Iron Man and Baymax, with Hiro riding on his back, appeared. From above the Vision and Falcon flew into view along with Aladdin and Jasmine, both using their magic carpet as a mount. From one end Dash came into view and from the other so did Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch. Han Solo and Star-Lord walked neck-and-neck with Chewbacca following and carrying Rocket Raccoon on his shoulder, both armed with large weapons in their hands. Gamora and Drax stood by Mr. Incredible and Queen Elsa. Groot lumbered out into view with Master Yoda riding on his shoulder, his lightsaber ignited in his hand, and Tinkerbell buzzing around nearby. Spider-Man and Ahsoka were joined by Mulan. Merida and Hawkeye both showed themselves with bows armed and at-the-ready. The large mass of the Hulk stood behind the group with the little blue alien Stitch perched on his shoulders, snarling like his big, green mount. Finally Ant-Man, who had been normal sized when he appeared, used his suit’s mechanics and now changed his size to stand as the 60-foot-tall Giant-Man. Finally Thor flew down and joined his allies as the group all stood together, strong and tall.

Everyone’s gaze was upon the battlefield in front of them. A good hundred yards or so between them and the command center, and Thanos, with an army of some of their greatest enemies stand between them. Practically everyone had looked to Cap as he took one final breath, igniting his lightsaber and holding it up high as a show of courage to fuel their souls.

He charged and with a great breath, Captain America gave the mighty battle cry “AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!”
