A Tale of Two WintersChapter 2
5 years later
The King and Queen slept in their massive bed in their chambers. Unsure of how they managed it, but sleep had finally come to them...though it was not a welcome occurrence.
Ever since the event with Elsa's power going array and striking their daughter Anna, they were at a loss of what to do...did they really have to shield their daughter from the world like that...but then was she really their daughter it was Anna who was struck....
a GASP went off in their mind "How could you think such a thing!? Don't you love her...what kind of parents are you...."
It made the King and Queen both toss in their sleep....as a grinning...billowing shadow was cast on their bed side.
Suddenly the hand of the shadow began stroking the queens face, making her shrink back into her husband.
"What kind of mother are you anyway...? Look at those eyes....look at how she wants to be safe...but do you care? No..."
the voice which sounded so much like the their own inside their head, chuckled momentarily to itself as the shadow moved across their bed to the King's side.
"Noble King....conquering hero, hero of Arendelle. But you can't conquer this, can you mighty king? Your daughter is a monster...wait till she finds it out for herself, can you see her face....can you?"
The shadow arose from the bed as if it was growing out of it like a tree to reveal Pitch, the Black Prince of Nightmares and Emperor of Fear, the dark guardian.
He smirked down coiley at both of them, and with flick of his wrist made an image of their little Elsa, quivering at her own reflection.
"Such a sad face...." he said tsking as he shook his head sorrowfully down at the King.
"So full of confusion...and fear, and looking to you for answers."
He slowly pushed the shifting image in his palm into the King's head and he winced shaking his head a little against Pitch's palm.
"Well are you the kind of parents that wouldn't take EVERY precaution.....you said you'd do whatever it takes...that's what you said. Are you that horrid of excuses for parents?"
He began shaking his finger as he spoke, and as he did, he made a spiral of black mist that formed into a little void of darkness, like a star that sucked away the light.
He then broke it in two with a lightning-like snapping sound and put a piece of either into their heads.
Images billowed into their minds like pouring dye into clear water, Elsa was running through the palace, slipping on her own ice, in tears, on either side of her were servants, their butler Gerard, their trusted guard Randolf, encased in ice.
Suddenly she saw Anna asking what was wrong and what happened to everyone.
"Anna!" Elsa said gasping and ran for her, "Anna please help me!"
In this nightmare both the King and queen were helpless behind a wall of what looked like ice itself to them, from which they could neither be heard or seen.
"Elsa what's wrong?" Anna said confused.
Elsa sunk to her knees, "I hurt mom and dad, I'm a monster...." she cried.
"No honey you didn't mean too!" the queen tried to yell.
"No your not..." Anna said steadfastly inspite of her unnerving at what was going on.
"Yes I am...." the king and Queen heard Elsa say. Unaware that behind them, Pitch was leaning against one of the frozen servants, mouthing every word said silently into the nightmare.
Anna went over to hug her sister.
"NO NO NO!" The King cried futilely, "Don't touch her Elsa, no!"
She hugged her gingerly, Elsa hugged her back. "Elsa...what's happening to me...?"
Elsa looked up in horror as her sister began to turn pale like her. "My hair! It's turning white!"
Suddenly she began to freeze in place, "Anna no!" Elsa shrieked.
"Elsa what's going on, I want mom and dad, what did you do to mom and dad?!" Anna cried before she turned completely into a frozen solid statue.
"NO! ANNA!" The King actually screamed in his sleep, but in the natural, he was just murmuring loudly.
Suddenly a door burst open to the castle, dozens of angry villagers with torches and pitchforks and shovels poured in.
"There's the little devil! She made the blizzards! Get her!"
Elsa screamed and ran down the hallway as fast as she could, shovels and stones hurtling around her, breaking busts and vases on the wall.
Meanwhile above the King and Queen in their bed room, Pitch stirred his finger on the King and Queen's head as if they were brews.
"Mother, father!!!" Elsa sobbed as she rounded a corner.
Pitch smiled pleasantly, "Here they are dear..." he chimed as he snapped his fingers, and the door near her swung open to reveal the King and Queen; themselves encased in ice.
The horror on their faces tickled Pitch as they saw that they were helpless to move a muscle, only seeing their little Elsa running up to them.
"Mother! Father please! I'm sorry, please help me! I didn't mean to, I'm sorry please come back!" Elsa cried hugging herself against their frozen selves. "Help me fix Anna! Please!"
Suddenly the peasants rounded the corner, "GET THE WITCH!" one of them yelled as Pitch mouthed it in the background.
Elsa shrunk against the feet of her mother and father, "Moooooommy....." she cried against her parents legs as a torch was raised over her.
The moon's light suddenly shown in the darkened room, coming from behind a cloud and shining on the King and Queen's faces.
"ELSA!!!!" The Queen screamed against the relentless ice on her face, then suddenly jerked up out of the bed waking up, black mist washing off of her like smoke.
The King joined her in waking up,"ANNA! ELSA! NO!" he gasped heavily.
They looked at each other for a brief moment digesting it was all a dream. Then suddenly heard crying down the hall.
Pitch meanwhile, unseen by both of them looked over his shoulder glaring at the moon out their window, then his frown turned to a smirk as he too heard the crying down the hall.
"Oh!" he said chipperly, "Right on cue..." as he bowed to the moonlight before it shown bright enough to cover the part of the room he was in, but he had already vanished.
The King and Queen nearly ran over their servants coming through the door asking if everything was alright.
"Elsa..." the King said as his only explanation, and rushed down the hall with his wife.
If they had a guardians foresight, they would have seen a black, misty bat, flutter out of the room right over their heads, and seen a collection of black sand sliding off of Elsa's vacant pillow.
They saw Elsa near the frost bitten window, crying into her arms, hugging her knees.
Their Maid Tondle was trying to console her, holding a candle, but doing so from a safe distance.
"Don't fret...." the maid stammered. The king and Queen burst into the room. "Elsa!" the King said.
Elsa looked up immediately to see her mother and father, and ran to them.
The both of them embraced her tightly. "Shhhh shhhh....." the Queen said, "It's alright."
"I didn't mean to mother..." Elsa said, eerily similar to their nightmare.
The King got up from hugging her and went over to the window, noticing only the area Elsa had been touching was frost Bitten, then looked at the icicles on the banister, and her bed posts.
"They were so angry, they didn't believe me, I didn't mean to do any of it." she said again.
"It's alright...we understand." The Queen said.
"Yes, we do." the King said, then turned to his servants, "Leave us..."
They did so immediately and Elsa looked between her adopted mother and father, they weren't angry, but something in their faces worried her.
"When can I see Anna? She was in trouble in my dream-" Elsa said.
"My dear..." the King said shaking his head.
Elsa's eyes enlarged "...Your not still going to make me do it are you...the trolls were wrong, you said-"
"I know what we said dear, that we'd find another way but..." she looked down at the snow around Elsa's feet unintentionally.
Elsa followed her line of sight to her toes and looked away ashamed.
"Oh darling!" the Queen said seeing this, and hugged her to her chest.
Meanwhile outside, a shadow of one of the flag poles outside the palace turned around as if it was a back, sure enough it was Pitches, who now sat atop the shadow of the pole.
"What a lovely...cold....evening..." he said looking up at the moon. "And what a lovely...conversation they're having in their...don't you think?"

Meanwhile, in another region of the land, another cry was heard in the mountains protruding from a log cabin, well furnished enough to withstand the harsh of winter, next to a barn with sheep and caribou.
Little bare feet walked down the wooden hall of the house into a room with carved out images of snow flakes, reindeer, and dancing men in long pointy hats.
A small boy with chestnut brown hair drug a stool with him and propped up against the crib inside the room where the cries were coming from.
"Hey you..." the boy said. "You having a bad dream?"
Small as he was, the boys lanky arms reached in and stroked her face, she woke up seeing her big brother, Jack smiling down at her, his face lit with the silhouette of the moon.
"Mom and dad'll be home soon, don't worry..." he said. The baby grabbed his finger and her crying slowed.
"I won't let anything happen to ya..." he said as she began to fully quiet.
She began to make little baby moans and gurgles and nommed on his finger a little.
He just smiled, "Whoa...cold..." he said giggling himself.
He saw her take his hand and put it against her cheek as she shut her eyes.
"I'll always protect you..." he whispered.

Figuring how where/how i want Elsa and Jack to meet.
I mean i want to keep with what happens where Elsa and Anna find each other in her palace in the mountains, and lot of that bars on her being alone still, so idealisticall you'd think that She wouldn't have met Jack by then right? But that's a long time for them not to have met

This is good. I like how you are taking Elsa/Anna's parents into consideration about their own regrets/fears of what they are doing to Elsa and how Pitch is using that against them.
Seriously, Pitch just has a way of getting under everyone's skin... what a creep.
Looking forward to the next chapter.
