Definitely was worth the wait 
Story hits all the right notes, although date angle is a bit weird. Story I suggested had Rarity forcing Spike on a date with guy, not her (maybe some kind of double date).
I'm cool if you wanted to make changes, I'm just unsure why Rarity would call something like this a 'date'.

Maybe you could just change the ending slightly? It can be just the text. Something like
"I though we would go on a date"
"Silly Saphire, we will. On a DOUBLE date"
And then Rarity explains that two hot guys will show any second, something like that.
