I start with the hairline and the work my way back to the top of the head and then the back/neckline. But if you read that tutorial, I would suggest NOT using wire/pipcleaner as a guide. Use EZ Felt or something similar. EZ felt is a stiffened felt you can cut into the spike shapes and glue into 3D forms directly onto the wig and then cover with hair to form a MUCH sturdier and cleaner look. Don't forget to bald the area for larger spike felt shapes.

usually I either buy 2 wigs and add wefts into one of them while styling so that it gets the right thickness. For short wig styles I might buy a long wig and cut it so I can used the extra hair for wefts. Basically I just use more than 1 wig O_o

It's a Kurama wig, from Yu Yu Hakusho.

hmm that's not that hard. Though I guess it depends on what kind of wig you bought to do it. He has kinda floofy bangs and stuff, getting them to stay like that can be difficult. Try scrunchin the bangs so they're floofy and then turning the wig upside down so you've got gravity helping them to stay up. Generously hairspray and leave the wig like that for a while. When you turn it right side up, it should stay in place!

thanks man. I make em using a lot of wire, hot glue, and hairspray. This is actually 2 wigs cut and paste together so I could make all the spikes.
