For budget and reason and because of some workplace restrictions, I work on Wacom Bamboo A5-sized model and am very happy with how that works out.
Still, A5 is an amazing option for someone who just starts exploring the world of Wacom tablets : D Model (Intous 3/4/5/99, Bamboo whatever) doesn't matter really.

You can hopefully find a pretty good scanner for around $50-$100 dollars that also has printer functionality. Probably with better deals online. And also be mindful of the brand type of course.
For myself I don't think I can pull off what I see artists such as yourself doing with just a tablet; I have to integrate both methods on my end. Plus I love drawing by hand and don't want to completely abandon that (precious time away from a computer xD).
