Hello my lovelies!
This page isn't as full of action as I made you believe but it was hard anyway.
Let me briefly tell you something about Aztecs and dogs. The Aztecs kept dogs as guard dogs and pets, but they also ate and sacrificed them. They believed that a dog guides the souls of the deceased into the underworld. The deity named Xolotl which had a dog's head (sometimes) was associated with this act of guiding souls, and the race of hairless (yes hairless! though there are ones born with fur, too) dogs they bred is called Xolo because of that. I think it's really fascinating that there is such great similarity between the Egyptian god of Death, Anubis, and this Xolotl.
He is Quetzalcoatl's twin brother, but in BTOM I simply associate Xolotl with Mictlantecuhtli, the dog being a kind of familiar of his, like spiders and bats and barn owls. The dog seemed to be his best option at this peticular moment, though having Itztli overrun by spiders would have worked, too, I guess...
Hope you like the new page!

well they still are
Joke, I would never eat dog, unless I'm starving or being offered and it would be rude to say no...
