Description Istanbul, Turkey.
We experienced a show where Dervish-monks (somethinglikethat) do a traditional spinning-thing and so achieve some higher level of awareness.
Anyway, it was interesting to see how intensively they concentrated on their seremony, and they spinned well too.

one of the loveliest moments in life : admire the dance of the derwishes....
Lovely photo. I saw them several times, the last time at the Egyptian Academy in Rome.

Beautiful. You captured him so well. I've been there too and I'm glad you took a picture of a dervish dressed in white.
The coloured dresses are just for tourists!
In London there is a place where you can study the Turning (as it's called) but it's very early in the morning (and anyway I don't live there anymore).

Studying the Turning sounds interesting
The place where I saw that dervish was full of tourists though, but well, great that it was somewhat original stuff anyway
I did't actually see any coloured desvishes.

Thank you my friend!

Settings:
Canon EOS350D
Canon 50mm
f/1.8
ISO something around 200-800, can't remember..
No idea about shutter speed either. I had the camera on automatic, so I only adjusted the aperture and let camera select shutter speed.
Then I tweaked ISO as long as the machine gave me reasonable shutter speed.
Propably it had to be something like 1/100 because the monk was spinning quite fast.

if you have the original and right click on it, then click on properties, it will tell you all that info.
and thanks for supplying this much. i'm trying to learn all i can about taking action shots
such as this one. especially indoor/lowlight.
so i really appreciate when people share this kind of knowledge.

Tuolla takana olevia pöytiä piti vähän häivytellä, mut ne tarvis ehk viel pikku hienosäätöä jollain kikka kuutosella. Jos joskus opettelis sen maskihomman yms. ni vois helpottua toi nysvääminen..

very excellent! (bad grammer....) how did you get that picture the lighting looks like it would be hard to snap a picture that turned out as well as it did.

Well, it was really dark there, only a well-located spotlight gave light towards the dancer, so I was able to take a sharp pic.
