You stood behind the counter next to Dave, holding a pair of hockey boots that you borrowed from him as he payed to get into the sports centre. He lead the way to the rink as you passed various doors leading to other parts of the building. It was your first time ice-skating and Dave insisted that you go with him since John and Rose would be there but it took him about an hour to convince you.

"You ok (y/n)?" Dave asked, looking over his shoulder at you.

"Yeah, I'm fine, just a bit nervous" you replied, looking at the ground as you could feel a cold draft as you look up at set of double doors. Dave opened the door, holding it open for you, as you walk in and instantly feel even more nervous than you did before. It seemed like thousands of people decided to go ice-skating that day as the rink was bursting with experienced skaters. As you tore your gaze away from the people on the rink, you spotted John and Rose, starting to put their skates on. Dave walked over and greeted them with a 'yo' and raise of a hand while you sat down on the benches provided. You started to put your boots on with a shaky hand, Rose coming to help you tighten the lases.

"You need to make sure that the laces are tight otherwise you will end up with a broken ankles" She said with giggle, undoing your weak knot to make it tighter. The both of you finish off the task of putting on your boots as she stood up before you, holding out her hands to help you up onto your feet. You were a bit unstable at first as you adjusted to your new footwear, walking slowy towards the entrance of the rink once it was it was cleared of people. John stepped onto the ice, proceeding to skate a bit further away from the entrance as Dave leaped onto the ice, nearly crashing into a kid.

"I'll help you on" Rose said, already on the ice, holding out her hand once again as you stood on the slippery surface. She held your hand to give you balance as you attempt to go out further into the rink, already ignoring the fact that you were freezing your butt off. Rose let go, letting you try and stand up on your own but failed instead, feeling yourself starting to fall. Suddenly, a warm body was behind you, preventing you from falling over. You look directly up, a confused look on your face, to see your own slight reflection in a pair of shades as you realise who your saviour was.

"Woah there, don't want you falling over" Dave said, looking at you with a slight smile on his face. You could feel a blush start to creep onto your face until John interupted your little 'moment'.

"Your such a gentleman Dave!" John said in a mocking tone, holding his hands under his chin, batting his eyelashes as if he were a sophisticated lady. Dave left your side as fast as he came to your rescue, holding John in a headlock as the two struggled on the rink, a staff member having to come over and break them up to prevent an accident. You and Rose laughed at the boys as they were told off by the same member of staff.

~Short time skip~

It had been 20 minutes since Rose tried to help you to skate on your own, many of the attempts falling over and some pulling her down with you. You held onto the barrier for dear life, not wanting to fall over another time, as Rose let a slight sigh of frustration as you refrused to leave your safe haven.

"I really want to go skate so is it ok if I leave you on your own?" She asked, slighlty resembling a mother trusting their child to be in a house alone. I nod my head, Rose turning to skate gracefully away. You watched as John, Dave and Rose have a good time, you standing at the side, not being able to skate at all. You let out a sigh, feeling frustrated at yourself for not being able to skate. 'I'm so pathetic... you think as you look at your borrowed boots, scuff marks decorating the sides. You looked up as you notice another pair of skates in front of you. Dave.

"We aren't the only ones that can have fun y'know" He said, his arms folded.

"Yeah, I know. I would be able to have fun if I knew how to skate" You mumble, not making eye contact with the blonde.

"All you need is a good teacher"

Before you could look up and register what he said, he took hold of your hands, taking you away from the barrier as he started to skate towards the middle of the rink.

"W-wait! I-I-I can't d-do this!" you said, starting to panic as you looked down.

"Just keep looking at me"

You slowly looked up at him as the world around you suddenly didn't matter to you anymore. Dave's light, bleach blonde hair moved gently in the cold breeze and his cheeks under his shades were tinted a pink, meaning either he was cold or he was blushing. As the two you gazed at each other, you could feel yourself slip forward as Dave fell backwards. You opened you eyes as your head was spinning to find you were on top of him, faces only centimetres away from each other.

"O-oh god Dave I'm so sor-" You panicked until Dave closed the gap and kissed you. You were a bit shocked at first but you just went with it and closed your eyes, melting into the kiss. Suddenly, you heard a loud, annoyed 'Hymph!' behind you as the you and Dave looked up at a middle-aged, ticked off woman who guided her young child away from the two of you. You just started to laugh and so did Dave as you helped each other up.

"Dave! You totally made (y/n) fall over with you!" John said, snickering along with an amused Rose.

Before you knew it, Dave was holding John in yet another headlock.

~Bonus ending~

You and Dave waved goodbye to John and Rose as you made you way to the nearby bus stop, your hand in Dave's.

"Did you enjoy yourself?" Dave said looking down at you with a smile.

"sort of" you hummed, enjoying the warmth from Dave's hand.

"I know what this is about, you would have prefered if I had french kissed you instead?" he said grinning leaning close to your face.

"Dave!" you exlaim, blushing madly as you playfully shoved Dave.

Dave just laughed it off as he put an arm around your shoulders, bringing you closer to him.

"I love you" He said, kissing the top of your head.

"Love you too".
