I have to say, i absolutely love this picture. I come back to it again and again, even though i +faved it ages ago.
There's something about the sad serenity of the face that is so alluring. And, when you realize the face is being eaten away by the encroaching chaotic darkness, but doesn't even bother to look at it, it adds another level of meaning to it. It's almost as if the person[face, thing] realizes her fate, and accepts it.
So, to me this picture shows that accepting your shitty end in life can be a peaceful thing.
i seriously doubt that 'acceptance of the inevitable misery of life' was your intended goal, but... either way... that's what i see

ya i try but fifty percent of the time i don't like what i make
your materials are very unique where did you come up with the idea to use Nail polish remover?

tehcollar In reply to Sketchy-girl [2008-12-05 22:27:43 +0000 UTC]
well,
i used acetone for the transfer.
nail polish remover is diluted acetone, i believe.
so,
i experimented a bit,
and found that the acetone moved the ball-point ink nicely {:
I just got lucky.

It's as if the person is growing out of the surrounding ink.

Wow, very nice job. I love how the colors work together. They complement each other quite nicely. I like how the splotches bleed into the painting and how you made the long scratches along the surface. The opposite types of decay and destruction pull together perfectly to contrast with and show off the delicate face.

If this happened completely by chance after dropping one big glob of ink on a canvas, I'd be really impressed.
Still a cool picture nonetheless.
