Description What a wonderful manga! It surely made my week with its many heartwarming scenes

As promised from the WIP[link]
-RANT START-
WHY DA FK IS RIN SO CUTE?!!
I really enjoyed the anime where it covered bits of Rin's childhood. I actually only recently realized that there was a manga. So one of my friends who read it told me there's a '10 year later' part where Rin's all grown up......INSTANT GOOGLE SEARCH.
I pretty much steamrolled the whole thing in a week.
So as with all the amazing series I finish, I get my 'awe phase' afterwards, only to discover how there's so many people who thought the ending ruined the whole thing and how it was so wrong etc.

WHAT?!
How narrow minded can they get?

-the following lump of text contains spoilers-
It's probably one of the sweetest versions of true love I've seen! Living and caring for each other for all those years, with such an amazing guardian by her side, it's no wonder she falls for him! I also liked how Rin DIDN'T (no not a typo) even have a 'Don't give a fuck' attitude at the end where they finally get together and she tells him she wants to be a mum. It's so natural for her! And it should be since there's absolutely nothing wrong with it!

They're not even blood related ffs.

And even if they are I still don't see what the fuck is wrong with it. This blood taboo shit is ludicrous in my honest opinion. If you love someone you love them, fuck all. If anything screws up blood-related love, it's society and its retarded prejudices. Yeah sure you might get a higher chance of mutated babies but chances of that happening are close to none anyways.
What I'm trying to say is, don't let the ending put you off, if you really think hard about why it's 'wrong', you'll find out you don't actually know. And that's because it isn't wrong. And it's an amazing manga.

Read it.

When I first heard about Usagi Drop anime. I found out about the manga due to someone talking about how they didn't read it cause they had been warned about Daikichi's feelings for Rin changing. But the anime and the manga are so GOOD!! True, Daikichi was hesitant at first but in the last chapter, where Daikichi sees Kouki after dropping off Saiyaka-chan, the way he talks about Rin to Kouki. It makes it seem like he's quite used to him and Rin being together. What would be interesting is to see how his mom would react. ^_^ Rin would go from calling her Aunty to Mom and she already called Kazumi neechan.

I never shipped Daikichi x Yukari or Rin x Kouki. Considering that Rin is someone who's always enjoyed taking care of small children and wanted to base her future around that, I can see why she preferred Daikichi, someone she knew was responsible and would make a good father. Likewise, Daikichi always seemed so nervous and self-conscious with Yukari in contrast to Rin with whom he could easily say what came to mind, which is why I think the older Rin is a better match for him. Besides which, I thought the whole idea of Daikichi marrying Kouki's mom and/or Rin marrying Kouki seemed too predictable. I thought the fact that Daikich and Rin ended up with each other was an interesting twist in the story.

When marrying someone, attraction isn't the only important factor. Values are important too. It's understandable why Rin kinda stopped having a crush on Kouki when he behaved badly in junior high.

Loved your comments~ I totally loved and of course accepted the ending of Usagi Drops. Since, the author explained that Rin and Daikichi are not blood related (which when I saw the part in manga I almost bursted in tears), it is TOTALLY FINE for a 24 years gap. The ending I think is very well built in chapters 25-56, both Rin and Daikichi gone through the process to pursue their love (Kouki and his mom), but both of them got disappointed. That's the true beauty in this story that things seems to work out so perfect together (eg. Daikichi and Kouki's mom) sometimes fail or fall apart. Towards the end of the series, for me, I can totally see the fact that Rin and Daikichi realizes the truth that their simplest happiness and purest love is just beside them.

Just that a little nag is that on chapter 30, when Daikichi confess to Kouki's mom, he is so damn manly. OMG. After reading the ending, I hoped that he can show this manly/handsome side to Rin though hahaha. Ojisan Saikou!!!!!!!

Oh, the drawing is so cute~ cx

I understand what are you saying, neither I found logical the "incest" argument or the "he is like her father", because...well, love is love. The only problem I see in the relationship between them is the fact that Daikichi is not in love with Rin. She's in love with him, (or so she want to believe it, because in my view is just a whim that grew too fast), but he is not in love with her. And you can clearly see it in the end of the manga. It is sad and uncomfortable to see him giving up to his own desires, only to make her happy. I don't think he really can love her as a woman.

hehe thanks

It's true Daikichi was thrown off by the whole thing at the start, but as he began to seem troubled, he ultimately couldn't come up with a reason to reject Rin because there just isn't any. His crush on Kouki's mum has long been extinguished since she married some other guy for the kids. I'm guessing Daikichi never really understood why she did that until the Rin situation came up for himself.

As with many relationships, it's often one-sided at the start and then as the couple discover more about each other, it builds on and mutual appreciation happens. I think this is exactly what's happened here, and it's totally natural. It might take awhile for Daikichi's view of Rin to shift but when it does (and it will as Daikichi shows a willing-to-learn attitude when confronted with the whole thing), given the closeness they already share, it can only be amazing.
