RL swam in the canal before the challenge and gathered a bunch of algae and fish (mostly dead fish at the bottom of the pond), and filled the other teams canoe's with them. This would cause many to back out of the challenge (as it is extremely gross) and would also make it slightly harder to focus. For those who managed well with the dead fish and algae, he hit them with his paddle when he got close enough, causing them to either take more time to get back in their boat, or force them to swim the rest of the way. He also managed to paint one of the Grapes' canoe orange so one of the Grapes' were left without a canoe.
