Description
11" x 14" graphite pencil 2H, HB, and 6B was all I had.Ouch!!!
Some of you have been wondering where I've been. Well this is where. It's pretty much the first personal piece I've done in 30 some years.
When I started this, I wanted to do something Art Nouveau but ended up with something only art nouveau-ish. A couple classic Mucha elements and I then just went with the flow. Kinda happy with it though.
I hadn't used graphite in almost 3 years and then not to this extent. Had to learn how those things worked again. Wish I had some do-overs.
I will be picking at her for a couple more days.
As always, critique and suggestions welcome.

Stunning, absolutely brilliant. You've been posting others' works but yours still holds my heart.

You have an amazing eye for human an animal proportions. The best I've seen on DA. However the super white value in the background doesn't draw focus to the interaction between the bird and tigress. It leaves me exploring other parts of the painting when I really want to do is look at that amazing anatomy fur and jewelry.

Wooow, this turned out SO well! I love the smooth shading and filigree designs. The way the stripes curve her muscles really looks convincing.
Ugh, photographing artwork is such a pain. I splurged and spent about $1000 on a decent camera for that purpose and I still sit there taking like 50 pictures and it never quite does it justice. Now I think I could benefit from a reflector or something because the lighting is never right...

Beautiful as always, but that hair is especially captivating.

looking at the WIPs for this piece, i thought "this will look great in colour"
looking at the finished piece i think "screw the colour! this looks too perfect to sully with such things"
TBH, i'm not sure what "art neuveau" means (apart from the french translation) but this piece reminds me so much of those old B&W postcards of nude models they used to sell in pre-WWI Paris. except for using a better camera and a (IMO) better-looking model.
which gives me an idea: how would this look shrunk down to postcard-ish size, and would you be interested in making it into one to sell? you could even probably get away with sticking a stamp on the back along with an address and brief note and drop it in the mail as an actual postcard to add an even more nostalgic feel to it.

"old B&W postcards of nude models they used to sell in pre-WWI Paris." Pretty much that! It was an art style popular from 1890 to WWI. Try google-ing images "Mucha".
Yeah, postcard. That might be fun.

For some reason this drawing seems a little bit biblical. Also, love it.

Oh dear, Teiirka - you've certainly not lost your knack with graphite!
This is a really beautiful picture! All the curves (on her and in her decorative surroundings), the jewelry, the exotic bird (perhaps a pheonix?)... it's exquisite. Sumptuous and beautiful!
Since you asked for critique, here's the relatively small thing I saw:
The arm holding the bird seems rather heavily muscled compared to the rest of her build. It and the largish hand are slightly distracting. Also, the angle of her head seems a bit off; her back is almost to the viewer, but you can almost see the far eye. It just seems a bit further turned than it ought to be, even though I realize it's because she's turning to look at the bird.
Those are pretty small things, though, and only really stood out when I looked closely after seeing your request for critique. It really is lovely, and if I weren't already Watching you I probably would after seeing this
Light and laughter,

i noticed the arm too, but i assumed it was because the bird is closer to the camera than her head, and therefore the arm was tilted toward the viewer, however slightly. it would also explain the twist to her head as compared to her body.
also, the brow ridge for certain species is somewhat pronounced when seen from the side, something that in this case, IMO, could make her seem turned more toward the camera than she actually is.
i was thinking that she was holding the bird not over her body but over the space between her body and tail. just in case the bird decided to poo. something you take into consideration when working with animals, as having to reset a pose for a photo shoot to clean the model/scene can be a time-consuming pain in the arse.
and yes, i know i'm looking at this like a photo. i'm most familiar with photography, and his work is so beautiful and well done, that it almost seems real.

I generally agree and tried to take into account the same things you're talking about when bringing up the arm and body positioning, though I didn't describe them as clearly.
I agree with the overall photo-like quality. I am ever in awe of artists who can do that with graphite, or a ball point pen, etc.
Light and laughter,
