Description
My reaction to people who don't know what double tonguing is the exact same as the brass boysTo those of you who are not familiar with this, double tonguing is a technique used by brass players to play separated notes really fast. Rather then wiggling your tongue with someone else's, you go "tukatukatuka" while playing. It's something that takes practice to get good at.
The equivalent for woodwinds is flutter tonguing, which is why Clarinet or Alto sax wouldn't have quite as great a reaction. String players and non-musicians however have priceless reactions. Like when I asked my dad for tips on it and my mom and sister started asking if I had a secret boyfriend

Very nice, but clarinets and saxes also double tongue
Clarinets and saxes don't flutter tongue, not to say that we can't, but it sounds like there is spit cought in your instrument mixed with death

It's so funny, becauseΒ theΒ percussionΒ freak out, and the clarinets are just like, that's too easy, can we learn something harder? (While the rest of the band thinks, how do you double tongue? So hard)

mmm, well you do have something in your mouth versus on your lips. I thought flutter tonguing was a slightly different technique though :s

Flutter tonguing is rolling your tongue, like when speaking Spanish "r's" or something. But yeah, the mouthpiece/reed being in your mouth does NOT make it easy xD

As a strings player, my first thought when I saw the title was 'Oh, this is a brass joke ...' and I'd never heard of double tonguing before.
Oh, and if you are going to start making this sort of comic ...
FINGERING POSITIONS G STRINGS.
That is all.

"you're not fingering the G-string properly"
reminds me of the concert a friend and I spent coming up with dirty music puns

I don't think it's humanly possible to play a musical instrument and not spend at least some time thinking up dirty musical stuff. Unless you're a percussionist. They defy the laws of music.

something like this happened to me too when the brass was having sectionals; also, for some reason, when I say i have to go to sectionals, they hear "sexuals." and now my non-musician friends are kind of scared to know what happens in band.

this is why there is the stereotype of sexually active band geeks
