another crappy artwork that i worked very hard on but turned out shitty-------------------------------------------------------------------------

the reasons why i hate this piece:
- it didnt turn out the way i wanted it, i wanted it to look realistic but it looked cartoony
- the hair sucked, if you look at it from afar, it looks ugly
- Shield was badly designed, because i couldnt paint a real dragon agey style shield
- i also spent alot of time painting her stocking, like 1 and a half day, then threw it away because it didnnt work
- the belt looks okay from a short distance, but if you look at it from afar, it does not look that good.
- the overall pose was ugly, if you try to do it in real life, you will feel pain.

The one thing I learned from Dark Souls is, if you can dodge, there's no point in putting on pounds of armor. Hell most people went naked who were confident in their abilities, albeit they were mostly dudes in Hollow Soldier loin cloth haha. I like this piece.

You are to critical of your work I think it's book cover quality. Also I asked my wife to try this pose and she said it wasn't painful at all.

The detailing is awesome, but yeah, I agree with you on the pose. It looks very awkward. Some of the anatomy is off too for example the forearm holding the shield looks too long and the gap between her legs are too wide IMO. And I agree with PahlawanPerisai, the unprotected side of her arm/shoulder is where she should hold the shield. Lots of games make this mistake.Β

This is an amazing piece of art and you should be proud.

I'm no expert (really, I'm not), but if you don't mind I'll give my opinion. If you don't want it, go ahead and skip me, I won't be offended. And I hope I don't offend you.
The pose does bother me, but only a little. It looks like she is tired of carrying around such a heavy shield, but she refuses to hand it off to someone because she's such a determined person.
The armor itself isn't prudent for a warrior lass. Her chest and thighs are exposed - the chest contains the heart, and the thighs contain major arteries. So, armor which provides more coverage would be better. While DA is a fantasy setting, you'll notice in the games that most armor provides adequate protection for the wearer. But, this is just a pet peeve of mine, feel free to ignore.
Try not to hate the style too much. The DA series has always appeared somewhat "cartoony" in style, so I don't see a problem with that. It fits in the DA world. Though I understand not meeting a goal can be frustrating.
The style and textures is amazing. Really, they are. I love this drawing - it makes me even more excited for DAI. You can tell by looking at her that she is a force to be reckoned with.

I saw the speedpaint on YouTube and later found it here. All the detail and effects (like the rusty one at the armor, or the scars) looks so incredibly amazing! A really stunning piece of artwork
