studied some reflected lightnings, i guess all 3D objects becomes more 3D when they have reflected lights.i also realized that there are 2 types of shadows and should be painted separately -- cast shadow and form shadow. too bad i only realize such a fundamental thing after 10 years of doing arts. self taught sucks

no i don`t think so, you are more talented.
i mostly do the sketch and loose the motivation to finish it.
But i have the same problems as you, i'm also self taught and things came to me after years. It is frustrating
