A little tutorial for how I draw paws!

1. Sketch the basic placement lines for the leg and toes.

2. On a new layer, above your sketch, make your lineart. This is when I do most of the detail lines--sketch is just for general placement. I add lines in the toes for where the claws are sheathed. We'll have one claw out, just for fun.

3. Make your sketch invisible or erase it. At this point I fix my lineart until I think it looks right.

4. Color in your lineart on a layer beneath your lineart. Make sure it doesn't go outside the lines! Erase anything that does. I just do one solid color for this part. When your flat color is finished, LOCK the layer. This makes it impossible to color outside what you already have done!

5. Now that you can't color outside the lines, color your design and markings in. Here we have a pink tiger. Ta-da!

6. Shade your picture by creating another layer above the color. Using black at about 30% opacity, draw on where you want the darker areas to be. When you have the shading right, feel free to adjust the opacity.

You've drawn a paw! Yay!
