Description It has come to my urgent attention as an American that the Canadians have formed many a friendship over the internet via the strangeness that is bagged milk.

Now, don't get me wrong, I think it's a pretty cool idea and seems like it would save a lot of plastic and do a lot of good as far as recycling goes.

But it's still weird. See? Even Alfred is concerned by Matthew's shenanigans.

Well, I'm a Canadian and the milk I buy comes in paper cartons or plastic jugs, like down in the USA... but, then again, I live on the West Coast, so maybe bagged milk is an Eastern thing...?
Fff, Canada almost looks proud of himself XDDDD

Having grown up with bagged milk I just don't see the abnormality of it. I drank milk cartons once in the US and it just didn't taste the same!! ;A;
I mean, when you have cartons wouldn't the milk seep through the paper or something? There has to be some sort of plastic weaved in with the paper or something.
I want to try milk from one of those cool glass bottle things though. My mom says they're awesome because you can get them refilled or something.

LOL WUT but

The cartons are sealed with plastic, yes. But mostly we use milk jugs which are plastic jugs with screw tops. My main confusion with bagged milk is when you cut the corner of the milk bag off... how do you reseal it to keep it in your refrigerator and keep it from going bad? o_o

Milk jugs... I've never seen one before O.o (I actually probably have, just haven't noticed them)
lol My mom explained that too be actually. Apparently Canadian milk and American milk are processed differently or something. I don't know though, we drink the milk before it goes bad. I'm in a family of 5, we all drink milk for dinner, 2-3 use it for breakfast and sometimes we drink milk randomly so it doesn't take too long before we need another bag. Maybe two days each bag?
The bags come in bigger bags so we usually buy 4 bags of milk at a time but they're sealed until we use them.

.... I never thought about the recycling bit before. I like my bagged milk, and I find the cartons or bottles strange... lol

Cute pic

I have often wondered about the baged milk... specifically, do the bags rip? I mean, I can just imagine some poor Candian grocery clerk catching the bag on the edge of the shelf and dumping milk everywhere. Or a snot-nosed kid with a push pin turning the milk aisle into a crazy variant on a sprinkler-hose...

Cute illustration, I love it!

I am Canadian and its true, we have bagged milk. Even though I grew up with it, I've always thought it was a little odd myself lol. Just to be clear though, milk is also sold in jugs and cartons in Canada lol. I'm from Ontario, where you will see bagged milk everywhere, but I also lived in Alberta for several years and jugs are the most commonly seen packaging there. It just depends on the province you live in.

I guess they buy milk in these plastic bags and then cut open the top and put the bag into a pitcher. o__o In America they come in cartons. XD

We had bagged milk in elementary school. They were called 'Mini-Sips', and came in chocolate or white. This was in the U.S., too. Everybody was amazed at the idea.

when I first found out years ago that milk came in bags in Canada, I was baffled, although I found it a fabulous idea (except that it would thwart one of my favorite ways to piss off my family; drinking out of the milk carton).

I prettymuch DIED laughing, when some Canadian kids I know dropped by my house while they were on a roadtrip (they were traveling through the US to get from Ontario to BC; I'm in Michigan, so they popped in and stayed the night with me), and one of them flipped out when he got into my fridge all like "ASRDAFHGSGF, eh?! What is UP with your MILK?!"
Ah.. good times.

But, I digress. As an American, I find this "bagged milk" phenomena highly bizarre.

Cute. I've never seen bagged milk in stores but it doesn't sound that weird to me (though I guess it would take a lot to weird me out with my kinda friends XD)
And I've put milk in a bag before, and leftover ice cream, we do it at home to save space in the refrigerator XD

Yes it is (eh), but at least I (read: Matthew) doesn't deep fry coke-a-cola! (Yes, Alfie really can do that now...)

Oh, that's a very good point. But in the news, they really only talk about Texas being most famous for deep-frying coke. SO IN THEORY, just his glasses deep fry coke? lolol.

Ha ha, yeah! ... friggin' Texas... Used to be her own (my Texas OC is a girl, who hates Mr. Big Star California... yeah... crack, I know... California is dating New York, his broadway brother! only... not, because incest kinda creeps me out, so their not REALLY exactly, completely brothers... just like Alfie and Arthur aren't REALLY father and son...) country, too!
