Description
Boredom.Ignore my extremely sad flower. I think I need a little work in the botanical department of drawing.

First impression: It was really the color that pulled me in from viewing the thumbnail and interest grew even more.
---
LINEART: Lineart is mostly colored lineart technique with some slight black lineart work. It's achieved decently in this piece and doesn't clash. Lines are a tad shaky in certain parts of the anatomy (front legs) but otherwise, very clean.
COLORING/SHADING: Coloring is a good color palette of neutral against cool. Shading is soft-cell and works well and the fur shows a nice balance of light and dark values. Fur effect is achieved nicely with both shading and lineart work. Overall, very consistent shading (especially with two sources). The shadow effect is also a wonderful touch (maybe add one for the flower too!).
COMPOSITION: Composition is fairly plain. Center focal point and no cropping or framing. Works decently for the piece.
CHARACTERS/ANATOMY: The character holds a good expression and the overall anatomy is decent. There is some anatomy issues on the back paws in particular (possibly too flat) and the left front leg is thicker than the right. The shoulder juts a bit too much for the weight of the animal. Facial structure is nice though and overall hind leg looks good.
BACKGROUND: Background shows nice atmospheric perspective and good separation of the sky and snow with color and perspective. Snow is blended well and gives off the effect of it being hard-pack. Simple and effective. Nicely done.
EFFECTS: The glow effect is nicely achieved and is not overpowering. It also helps with separating the flower from the snow. A very nice move.
IN COMPARISON OF OTHERS WORKS BY THE ARTIST: This is almost a more light-hearted piece than other works, which consist of darker color palates. A nice addition to the gallery.
POSSIBLE MEANS OF IMPROVEMENT: I actually think your flower is halfway decent (coming from a biologist), but your canine anatomy could possibly use some work. You are actually on a very good start. Very minor issues but it's mostly in the feet. I suggest looking up muscle charts of canines and sketching the muscles. More angles the better.
Also, the character seems to be disjointed from the environment, since the lines are sharp on the character and the environment is smooth and blended. Try adding maybe some crumpled snow underneath his or her haunches with colored lines.
OVERALL IMPACT: Even though this is a common theme and picture, it still holds on its own in technique and execution. Still a solid picture. Well done!
