As some of you are probably aware, there has been a spate of reporting of mature content artwork and literature in recent months, mainly by specific groups but also individuals. This reporting has resulted in many images and stories being deleted by the site administrators and in a number of cases caused the artist/writers to be suspended.
To be clear, all responsible community web sites must have terms of service (ToS) and clear rules as to what is, or is not acceptable and it is important that these rules are adhered to and enforced. This fact is not in question. There are some topics that should quite rightly be taboo and have no place in our community.
What is in question however, is the inconsistent application of these rules and the fact that in many cases the 'violations' are clearly not in breach of ToS and should never have led to deletions and/or result in a suspension. In way to many cases, the act of mass reporting is being used by organised groups as a tool to try and bludgeon site admins into acting against material and artists/writers who are creating fetish or erotic artwork/stories, even when this material does not violate the ToS.
There appears to be several groups who hold ultra puritanical views, who's members have decided to try and purge of anything even remotely erotic, regardless of it's adherence to the ToS and being clearly labelled as 'mature content'. In too many cases they have succeeded. This kind of mass trolling is both unethical and unjustified and could be characterised as organised harassment, something the admins should be taking direct action against.
In the six years I've been a member of this site, I've met some fantastic people and made many good friends. There are so many talented artists and writers who contribute to several small but vibrant niche groups, who have been directly or indirectly affected by this purge.
The sad reality is that many friends, artists and authors I know are now actively winding down their accounts here and will either stop publishing altogether, or are actively looking to go elsewhere, where their creative talent will be better protected.
I may well join them.
Sad days indeed.

I've read this several times in different Journal entries here at
DA. It makes me wonder if those groups keep them self anonymous
(by contacting the admins of DA but not getting into contact with
individual artists) ... how can one be sure there actually ARE
»several groups who hold ultra puritanical views«?

Having dealt with a group of these turds myself in the past I am almost certain that most of them are under-aged and shouldn't be seeing adult materials here at all, but they steal mommies credit card to pay for their Core membership and to prove that they are adult. The group I dealt with her all high-schoolers by their own admission. And by their own admission they were harassing me purely for the entertainment value. If it could be proven one way or another I'd place bets that the same is the case with this recent spate of attacks.

In some ways I almost wish it was groups of under age delinquents, not that that would excuse their behaviour but at least you could argue they don't know any better and may grow out of it. It's the anti-adult content zealots who worry me the most, as they seem almost fanatical in their goals.

From my personal experience it's bored under-age kids who mainly do these things. A group that went after me a few years back admitted they were in high school = not old enough to be looking at my Adult-Flagged content - but this didn't stop them from trolling me over it for several days. I pointed the DAdmiNazi's towards their comments in which they admitted they were not adults - that they all went to the same high school and they were hassling me purely for the entertainment value - and the admins did NOTHING about the fact that these kids were breaking the TOS by lying about their ages so that they could view adult materials. I can't prove it's a group of under-aged kids this time, but if it could be proven one way or the other I'd place bets that they were in fact kids doing nearly all of this. Most fundamentalist zealots aren't computer-savvy enough to pull stuff like this off, IMHO.
I also agree that the DAdmiNazi's have established too much of a history of harassing artists here to really change - without a major impetus to do so anyways. And honestly I don't really have any idea how to provide that impetus. They don't seem to be concerned that when all the real artists leave DA then all the people who are paying Core memberships to see their art will leave too.
The major thing that keeps me here is convenience. It's just so convenient to be able to catch up with every artist I'm interested in all in one place with just a few button clicks. But if the DAdmiNazi's decide to destroy that convenience then so be it.

There's a blog citing vigilante type groups dating 2011 by an admin here...issues are the same sadly.

Updated Block ListHere is a list of DA users who are either former members of Silent Enforcers (a stealth TOS enforcement group) or who are associated with overly aggressive TOS reporting. As time permits I will update this list.
I highly suggest you block every single one of them. Here is how to do it:
Step 1. Click on Settings. It is under your username at the top right of your screen. If you hover there, it will appear. Click the settings option.
Step 2. Click on General, under the Personal category on the left side of the screen.
Step 3. Copy and paste the list into your Blocked Users space. (You can block up to 500 individuals.)
Step 4. Click Save. Your done.
Don't harass them, just block them.
I've also included a list of deviants originally put out by AmazonArrow. Duplicates from my list have been removed. You can copy & paste both lists into your own blocked users box if you so choose. I haven't visited / examined any of the deviants on this second list. As time allows I will vet them
Burden of ProofThis will be the last journal concerning the issue of blocking individuals who are members of a group that reported art work which is not in violation of the TOS.
Up to today I was having a peaceful & open discussion about the initial journal post listing members of the Silent Enforcers group. The next post mostly talked about how blocking was not banning, harassing or censoring these individuals. It also discussed wtfrageplz's assertion that such a list was a form of "calling out" and according to him, a violation of the TOS. This was followed by a post describing my own investigation of the Silent Enforcers and the conclusions I drew from what I discovered. I had found that RenderPretender was correct when he asserted that members of this group were not just reporting TOS violations, but also reporting art that was seen as weird, offensive but not in violation of any DA rules. They were no longer just reporting violations, they were censoring art that they did not like.
