Description

The Quirr (or land-dwellers) are the second most populous rational being on the planet Nallassa. They are the most influential kin above water.
Quirr are humanoid in shape. Akin to amphibians, they breathe partially through the skin, needing it constantly moisturised. As such, humidities above 70% and/or closeness to water is preferred.
Suffering from a low metabolism, and unable to properly regulate their body temperature, quirr go great lengths to ensure comfort in their environment. This means, however, they consume little, allowing survival for many days without food.
This species, as many others of Nallassa, shows isogamy and thus has no sexes. This leads to children calling their biological parents different names depending on whether they laid their egg or not. We shall call “mother” to the parent who carries and lays the egg and “father” to the one who simply fertilizes their mate’s gametes but does not bear an egg.
Quirr have a mating season once per year. Such season is dictated by the flowering of a group of small plants. Quirr mostly reproduce during this season, making it the leading cause for population growth. Couples generally have only one offspring at a time.
