Description
When Rian and the Troll Havn escaped the planet Vespa IX, they brought with them millions of dollars worth of precious Vesparian amber stolen from the storehouses of the beelike Abeil people. The dress here doesn't exist yet, but it's Rian's next project; once they're able to unload the lion's share of the stolen gems, she plans to have a dress tailored to showcase her haul: studded with thousands of amber beads, the ill-gotten dress represents a greater fortune than most would see over a lifetime.Micron pen and PS.

you really captured the look of prestige in this, She looks so absurdly pleased with herself. The way the amber makes the dress glitter just is so eye catching, and i do like that despite all its grandeur, the dress itself is still simple and seems to suit her well.

I am unfortunately unable to tend to details such as those without seriously getting away from a drawing @_@ Its something i've had to try and stop lest i leave everything half finished XD

Yes, it's a REALLY hard balance to strike, isn't it? I often tend to avoid details for fear of getting way too caught up with them at the expense of composition or some other "larger" issue... luckily these backgroundless character drawings have been a good way to experiment with that without getting way too overwhelmed by setting.

I really love this *_* not just for the dress itself (that is very admirable) but for the way she wears it... she's proud, she know she deserved every single gem on that dress... and she's showing us with that look of her...
funny enough, I feel like in your "no white flag" picture she was wearing the black mockingbird insignia with the same attitude... and I totally love this X°D

Now that you mention it, there is a kind of similarity... I think it's that up-tilted left-facing profile that gives her the classic Rian 'tude.

She looks queenly because she just became ruler of a previously unknown tribe on an uncolonized planet. I'm picturing her wearing this dress when she goes back to Earth as a "foreign dignitary" under diplomatic immunity, so she can't get arrested even though she's VERY much a wanted criminal, again.

Thank you! And yeah, I'm pretty quick, but only because I never do backgrounds. 
She has her bird tattoo because her pirate handle is the Ruby Mockingbird. She's sort of co-opted it as her personal signal, and it's on her ship's flag. I decided she needed a nickname, and I went with that because she seems very like a mockingbird to me: a bit of a trickster and a liar, but with no real malice.

Yes that's right, It's more quickly, not to do backgrounds... but you find good proportion and good position when you draw them
