Description Just practicing going a bit more extreme towards more animal-like proportions. Obviously some exceptions are made here like the humanoid arms, but I wanted to see what I could do with more animal-like legs and torsos and if I could get those things to look appealing. I have a long way to go, posing abilities included, but it turned out alright!

You're going good in my opinion. Both the badger and the otter are looking pretty good and, just like you said, they're more appealing to me.
Gotta love how you did the otter though. <3

What made you so angry in the last panel?

I like the badger on the right. He looks like he's acting for a laugh for his friends or something... something about his pose looks like he's overacting on purpose, and I love it!

PS--apologies for any clumsy wording, I haven't had enough sleep in three weeks 'cause papers and final projects and tests.

That could be the case yes. x)

And yeah, I remember how finals are. Being stuck at school all day finishing projects, then having to get home in -30C darkness and cold... fun. x)

in the left hand corner.

I don't know what it is exactly but these look a lot more organic than usual.
I really love the badger.

Heh, that badger's so cuddly and adorable!
And the otter seems like a burly tough guy!

Aww, the badger looks so adorable.
The poses and proportions came out very good here. Myself I still stick with humanoid body shapes...

Very nice, it is subtle but noticeable difference. I really like it, good job dude. I have one piece of critique regarding the shoulder -> torso connection but it is probably best explained visually, nudge me on skype when you see so I can explain Really awesome job though!

I do like that combo of animals. The funny thing is that the badger is somewhat timid and the otter seems a bit more angry. The more animal like eyes certainly shine through, as well as the facial expressions. A change from the usual, but it does look pretty good to me. Body wise they are also a bit more animal-like, though still humanoid. Resulting in the fittingly burly badger and the athletic otter.... natural shapes for the respective animals.

Yeaaahh I've been thinking about doing some characters with smaller eyes, more in proportion with how they should be. I've been studying how I can make characters seem more realistic, and the biggest thing is probably just scaling down the eyes a lot. I still tend to draw them too big still, though. x)

*Very* good, bro! Yes, each one, despite being human-like, still has the basic original shape of their species, a characteristic I always love in anthro-art (and one that I fail at many a time ). The otter looks lean, sinewy and athletic while the badger looks solid, powerful, yet the round belly gives him a soft, friendly look, which of course is fitting since badgers are generally "goodbeasts." Plus I like how long you made the otter's tail in comparison to the rest of his body. Much more useful for swimming.

Temiree In reply to Kelaiah [2015-12-05 07:41:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah exactly. I don't mind human bodies with animal heads too much, since some of my characters are like that... but I do like it when proportions are a bit skewered towards their species. So otters have longer torsos for example.

Whoa! Pretty good!

I’m glad you took my suggestion and practiced a little bit with the more β€œanimal-like” proportions on these characters. Nicely done.
