This crosshatching + sketching style is pretty fun! I gave it a shot with Markus yesterday.

I love the crosshatching style of shading, I feel like it gives a greater illusion of depth, but without making giant blotches like solid shadows would

Agreed! The lines of the crosshatching can be wrapped and curved in such a way to help show direction/volume, so you nailed it.
