Yes. I mix medium with the paint to make it both thick and glossy.

I've gotta say this...the neutral palette you used to balance the Blue Jay is absolutely PERFECT! The emphasis is on the beauty of the bird, the composition and the direction. The texture is stunning and offsets the diagonal movement of the bird without being conflicting. And the blue dots are exactly the right colour that does not interfere or take away from the blue used for the Blue Jay.
And you beautiful faded out areas around the head and along the top of the wings is o very well done. I want people to see how much talent and skill goes into a BRILLIANT work of art

I absolutely love this! The use of texture through the paint is just phenomenal... and I completely agree with the DD comment. The vivid colors make the bluejay so lively looking.
