Description
The Astarta multi-purpose training arena is the oldest one at Elsevier facility artificial islands (at least the oldest from those, which are still there and functional). With it`s beautiful official name the training ground is however better known as track under E-41, or just a E-41 track. E-41 is the name of the nearby conference hall. Its modernistic-looking wall peaks above the training area.
The Astarta arena is huge. The wide racing track is set on it`s perimiter. The track ground is sloping a bit towards center and it makes it ideal for speed runs and tests. However the track itself is long and also can be used for good endurance training without making the cat running in circless for long.
Inner part of the training ground consists of three outdoor arenas. One round and two square ones. Cats and their riders can acess these arenas by four underground tunnels, that go under the racing track. The inner arenas in our days have no visible fences. Instead there are systems of efficient perimiter protection. In other words - each cat, that goes into arena, should have electric collar on. By the sides of the arenas movement detectors are located. If cat crosses the line, it will get a warning zip to it`s neck. Thats more than enough for a cat that was properly introduced to the electric collar. For less docile and obidient cats there are second and third row of detecters, that will cause a more serious message to the cat that would like to leave the territory without handler`s permission.
Also the Astarta arena is located near "dormitory hill". The area with such a nickname is located on the hill, that is fully covered in three things: Mini-pine trees, hotel buildings and guest catteries. Each guest house is a 2 or 3 store buildings with tiled roofs and around 20-30 apartments. There are few bigger houses, including own conference hall and a big canteen.
Guest catteries are located close to guest houses. One cattery for around 30 cats per four nearby guest-houses.
This complex was build in 70`s of the past century. And by now is considered the cheapest option for anyone, who would like to stay at Elseviers for long term. At the moment the dormitary hill is accupied mostly by students and people, who goes through intensive training with their cats.
However, in the times of big shows and competitions, dormitory hill becomes quite more diverse in it`s clients and overall public.
The main reason is the price/quality rate. Yes, the buildings and interiors are old, yes, sometimes internet is slow and the mobile works awkwardly there, but everything is kept clean and nice, food in the canteen "SeaCat" is gorgeous, catteries are safe and the staff works good. So if you are looking for quality staying, and don`t mind to stuck a bit in the 70`s, the dormitory hill is good choice for you.
And the one last, but not the least thing. This hill area has proven itself floodproof. Even with all of the defence systems that Elsevier Islands have, its nice to know, that the water and storm won`t get you even if those systems will fail to complete their duty.
Another good thing about Astarta arena is that it is open 24/6, except for sunday. Sunday working hours are 06. 00 AM to 07.30 PM. This way Astarta arena is one of only three public training arenas that are open through all of 24h.
With some nice trade Ive got an opportunity to show off some daily routine at Elseviers.
