I had this mostly done, and though I've been super busy (and should be doing coms - I will be asap I promise!) I thought I'd wind down by finishing it up. <3
I think he will look different everytime I try draw him.

Nobody had their money on the self taught amateur. When renounced trainers and handlers rode amidst the encouraging beams of onlookers, it was naught but a whispered 'Say who now?' that would greet the twenty year old and her charmingly docile mount, Balendin. It wasn't a race of usual sorts, but nerves still clutched like parasitic hope-devourers in a chest that knew no better. They had both trained hard for this day; the results of this test would forever be plastered as numbers unchangable, undoubtedly to haunt the Cat for the remainder of his years - whether good, or bad.

Whilst the other two cats hissed and snarled and pressed their breasts against the containing bars of the start box, Balendin remained his usual self – level-headed, focused. Amy could feel the building tremor within his muscles, reboring under his blue-grey skin like uncontainable demons – a silent war pounding against the bars of his deep chest, infecting his toes into kneading and curling. Barely moments later, the gates drop and he is off. Never the first to break, his handler was concerned his slow start times would hold them back. He was however, brilliant when it came to catching up, and where other Shedu’s might decline in power towards the end of a race, balendin only accelerates. His focus is seamless, and though perhaps not elegant in his ferocious blaze, the steel dressed beast succeeds to shape frowns on the unsuspecting faces of on-lookers; whilst the seconds on his time ticks within the fingers of the overseer, it is clear that this is no longer a cat to doubt.
