Description Not really sure what inspired this creation, but I think it was the novel Traitor General by Dan Abnett, which featured a primitive laser weapon known as a laslock. It may also have been inspired by the voices in my head.

Kind of reminds me of the "laser" weapons seen in Treasure Planet.

Credit to Dan Abnett for giving me the idea. I thought it would be pretty cool to have a parallell to old one-shot pistols with gun powder. You pull the trigger, the hammer falls and you get a single shot. Kind of like Dan Abnett's "hot shot" clips for the lasgun, I suppose.

As far as historical gunpowder weapons are concerned, β€œlock” referred to the kind of ignition source they used (matchlock, flintlock, wheel-lock, percussion lock). With this in mind I’d imagine that a β€œlas-lock” would essentially be a high-tech muzzle loading rifle that used a laser to ignite the gunpowder, which sounds exactly like the sort of weapon a bored Imperial noble might go hunting with.
