"Hey Jen, guess what? I figured it out! Your boy Xander was right, well kinda." Ivy informs her; "I ran a facial recognition on the android; came up a ninety nine percent match to a Linh Nguyen." (Pronounced Linn When) "She used to work for Orion Robotics until eight months ago when a liquid oxygen tank leaked and exploded; destroyed her lab and everything in it."
"So she's dead?" Jennifer asks.
"Well, the first statement that Orion made was that she was in the lab at the time." Ivy says; "But they later amended that statement and said she was out of the building at the time."
"So someone in PR made a mistake." Jennifer comments; "These things happen."
"Ya, but I think the first statement was actually right." Ivy insists. "Check it out, a week after the explosion, she quits Orion and went to work for Raytheon. You know, the defense contractor that had a prototype plasma bomb stolen recently? And that's not all Jen, Linh Nguyen was on that plasma bomb project!" Ivy tells her; "And I did some digging in both companies and found a name that cropped up in both of em; Chol, the last consortium member alive."
"No shit, Chol?" Jennifer asks in surprise.
"Yup. He was funding Linh's android project at Orion Robotics, and after she quit he vetted her to Raytheon and gave her a top secret security clearance!"
"Wait a sec." Jennifer insists; "You think that the real Linh died in the explosion, and the android...what? Replaced her?" she asks incredulously.
"You're talking to a robot body with a transferred intelligence from a brain in a jar." Ivy reminds her; "I know it's kind of 'pod people'. but I think that's what happened. Chol had the robot kill the real Linh and take her place. Then had the android quit Orion before anyone noticed anything odd about her behavior. At Raytheon there wasn't any worry as nobody knew her there."
"Damn Chol." Jennifer says; "I expected him to try something ever since he vanished off the face of the Earth; but I expected something more 'blunt', like a Special Forces death squad. Not anything this crafty! So we destroyed this android, but do you think there's a chance of another one out there? Hiding in plain sight?" Jennifer asks....
