Description
After getting the call from Lynx, Xander suits up and flies to the dockside neighborhood to meet with him in yet another dingy alley. "Huh, I can't even hear you when you're flying." Lynx comments as Xander comes in for a landing; "You sure you're not a mutant?"
"Positive." Xander replies bluntly; "So what do you got?"
After taking a drag on his cigarette; "There's an old warehouse just down the street full of weapons." Lynx informs him; "Not sure if it's your brother's stuff or not, but I heard one of them talking about the Lynch Mob."
"What were they saying?" Xander demands.
Shrugging; "It kinda sounded like they were gearing up to take over the Lynch Mob territory." Lynx replies. "I called you because the big boss just showed up a bit ago. I think he was giving the guys a pep talk and going over all the details."
"So why didn't you just stay and listen?" Xander asks.
"Hey, I was pushing my luck being there as long as I was." Lynx says defensively; hiding the fact that his mind was possessing an alleycat at the time, and his body wasn't actually in the warehouse. "You didn't hire me to get killed by those guys, just find em. Job accomplished, so pay me." he demands, then looking sheepish; "Besides, they were talking mostly in Russian."
Ignoring Lynx's request for money; "Who owns the building?" Xander demands.
With a derisive snort; "In this neighborhood? Who knows and who cares; it's all about who actually controls things. And this week it's one of the Russian Mobs." Lynx informs him; "The Big Boss is one of those Oly-garky guys worth billions."
"You mean an oligarch?" Xander clarifies.
"Ya. Supposed to own his own nuclear sub even." Lynx tells him; "Anyway he's big on delegation, so one of his lieutenants actually run things here in the city, and that's who showed up just a little while ago."
Tossing the mutant cat a stack of bills; "If you're wrong; I'll find you." Xander tells him menacingly as he flies away.
"Yippie. As if I don't have enough to worry about." Lynx mutters to himself as he hastily counts his money.
