Description
So, here it is - sleeve badge of Special Forces of Princess Celestia. The motto is "Sol Omnibus Lucet" - "Sun shines over everyone".
What does it mean in context of special forces? It means that Princess Celestia (Sun) has a reach everywhere, and no one can escape her (or her Special Forces). It also indicates that the Special Force is ready to be deployed anywhere... and so on, you get the idea.
So, meet the CSF - their speciality is direct action and unconventional warfare (kind of opposite to Luna's special forces)

Fan-fucking-tastic.
I am actually thinking of writing a fanfic in which Shining Armor is actually a part of S.A.S.- like special force. Would you mind if I borrow this mark? XD

I think, it will be better, if words "celestial special forces" was inside the circle, keeping entire patch a single piece.

The "Celestial" and "Special Forces" aren't part of the patch itself - they are shoulder tabs, like those used by US Army [link]
First indicating allegiance to either of the princess', the other one indicating a member of special forces (obviously).

hmm... you know she has sent twilight out to handle incidents before they became something that would require full military application.
could twilight be at least an intern for some sort of special government agency?

Wow! Nice! ^_^
Direct action and Unconventional warfare, huh? So, I assume that the CSF is more like the Rangers whereas the LSTS are more like a counter-terrorist unit?
Need an airfield or acre of land to be taken or liberated, send the CSF... hijacked airline or a building with hostages, send in LSTS
Is that what it is?

tensaioni In reply to RyanWolfSEAL [2011-07-15 12:13:40 +0000 UTC]
I'd say, both units are trained to deal with terrorist to some degree.
CSF is indeed like the US Army Rangers and LSTS is... well, I can't really think of any specific unit they'd be like, but they are still a military unit, but more specialised - mostly in things like providing reconnaissance for for other units, gather intelligence. All while on the enemy territory of course!
And just because that's their speciality, it doesn't mean they can't do other things. For example LSTS still can hold on their own in a fire exchange situation during their missions and so on.

Rangers fill a different category than the SAS.
SAS are on par with Navy SEALs

ah, hang on, arent the SEALS sea based? then it'd be the SBS, not SAS

the-Jefe In reply to jackftwcod5 [2011-07-17 02:10:23 +0000 UTC]
Navy SEALs specialize in hostage rescue, counter terrorism and unconventional warfare.
SAS specialize in hostage rescue and counter terrorism.
The fact that they are Navy does not make a real difference other than the fact that they specialize in sea based infiltration,

Yes, SEALs are sea-based.
But they do everything, and are some of the best marksman in the US Military.

Shouldn't the SF tab be superior to the Celestial tab? Assuming it was like Airborne or something.

tensaioni In reply to pip-pip-rah [2011-07-12 11:32:05 +0000 UTC]
How how I worked that out - since ponies have two princess', they would have two completely separate armies, so the first tab you'd wear, the most superior one, would be either Celestial tab, or Lunar tab, to indicate from which army you are.
Then, tabs like Special Forces, and later Airborne, Mountain etc.
