Description A running animation I did a while back.  Held off on posting it thinking I was going to fix it.  I'll eventually get around to it.

Yes... Nao.. run to meeeee..   lol! I love seeing her in motion! Nice job on the boob bounce!.. im sure once you add her ears it will sell her bounce even more. And we still get a hint of Pantsu!   Oh shucks, i hope you get back to it.. and in color!!.. it'll look amazing for sure!! From the looks of it, she is on two's (frames), you might want to add an impact frame for the left and right leg, just to help sell that she is "pushing" off the ground. Unless she is doing a ninja run, then dont worry bout it... its still effing amazing man!!.. Now, time for you to do a  Chu run ( or squirm? ) cycle.. chasing Nao.. hahahaha. shoot.. now i want to animate Nao.. xD curse you! lol

haha thanks man, yeah, I'll definitely get to fixing / coloring here soon.   Also, good idea on the extra frames.  I'm trying to think in terms of videogame animations and I'm not sure more frames would be better because they are usually more mechanical than pretty.  But I'll give it a try, throwing extra panels in there to see how it looks.  Just looked up "twos" and didn't realize it was a technique.  No, I'm not duplicating the frames, that's just how fast it came out as.  I wonder if twos would help. o.O

A bit jumpy when it goes towards the turnkng pf the other leg. If yu can smooth that out that be cool, how many frames do uu have between them?

Other than that great job!

Yeah, that's definitely on the to do list.  Right now I'm thinking it's where her legs end up in the same position as each other along with them being too far raised in one of the frames.  And it's 12 frames.

It's better now, 20 frames. Id say try to keep it at 17.
Where the starting frame loops with the end frame.(start with the first frame, only being one so it starts fast).
Then get each frame to go 2 by 2.  And the frames of the legs going in between tend to normally go faster.

And If I can ask, whats your fps? I recommend 60 or 30 frames per second. That's jsut me trying to help, sorry if it came off rude!
Wish ya luck on this piece. But it's DEFINETLY looking better!

Right now I'm hitting about 10-20 frames per second (if I double them up)hitting 30 frames is kind of hard and I'm not sure if it's needed for the type of game I have in mind.  I'll have to look and see what I can dig up.

Well for projects that I run with I normally go around 60 fps, so I endup having 3 of the same frames having around that takes up around 0.70s to show each one. Living up a bigger window to show speeds and sfx. If a game goes around 10-20. I think you only double the frames you have for them to show up. Only leaving 1 frame of window coming in at a time.

Guess what I have to suggest is, After each frame you should have the sfx show up(persay the slash or woosh follows up in a 1 second delay of the sfx). Sort of what Street fighter does with the Y+B(or Triangle and Circle) Function. Sinec you have an eye for those type of small details.(Legs flexing and such) it adds up the impressiveness.

Honestly all I've been using was photoshop, gimp and sai to do animations.  I realllly don't know much about it.  not that I even needed to say anything... -looks at the time stamp- I'm so terrible with time.

A very nice animation cycle.  Could use a few more frames, of course.

I see two things you might want to take a closer look at.  The first is her left hand.  When it is ahead of her, it's open, but when it pulls behind her it seems to close into a fist.  This may be doable, but it seems a rather odd way to run.  The other issue is her feet.  Although you do seem to do a good general job with the movement of her legs, her feet are doing some odd things.  Specifically, the foot in the rear always seems to be the left foot, as does the one that appears alternatingly behind and in front of her thigh.

Is there any chance you could post a 'rotoscope' version of this (where each frame is shown one after the other)?

TentacleMonsterChu In reply to LegionaireB [2015-09-20 07:52:48 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, those are definitely two of the problems I was referring to.   Also not happy with the flopping of the dress.  Don't think I'm going to post a rotoscope version simply because it isn't at a finished state.

Well, if you don't post it, at least put one together for yourself so you can see where you need to adjust your frames.

Incidentally, I would suggest at least a 4-frame cycle for walking/running.  I'm no expert, but it seems to me that's the minimum you need (with sprinting you could probably get away with 3).

haha, I have.  I know what's wrong with it, I just haven't got around to fixing it.  Also, it's 12 frames as it stands.

Wooow, really well done, I love how you cover the details of her body balancing and even let us see some panty shot fanservice scene, but I like even more the way she runs, looks so natural in movement
