Description
Just another random magazine model I drew. I changed the hair a little, since I was really into pigtails at the time. Made it in 2000, I think.Related content

I really like the shading on this; it looks so realistic! I've been meaning to get more into drawing realism, but it's really difficult for me...

Yeah, I just did well at realism because I can copy really well--it's the only talent I was born with when it comes to art. Drawing things from my head is what's hard for me! But it's always good to become good at something that you're not a natural at

o.o wow.
.___. one day you should show us how you draw. do you use a grid, or do you just draw everything straight on like that?

Back then, I didn't use a grid, and I didn't even sketch, lol! I'd just look back and forth from the picture and my drawing really quickly while I'd draw and I'd just try to draw nothing but the shadows (when people try to draw colors, it gets ugly). I'd also think of every object in terms of proportions and angles ("this looks like a 35 degree angle") instead of thinking, "I'm gonna draw an eye!" You can only draw something exactly like a photo if you forget about everything you know and only think of it in terms of shapes and levels. And draw it EXACTLY like you see it. Lots of teachers have you copy a picture that's upside-down to make you think in terms of that.

...oh, wow. oO now that's a really good method. >.> although you need a lot of patience for that too. >___< maybe i'll try that sometime... but i still find it's amazing that you can do it without a grid.

Haha thanks! Yeah, really, if your eyes are switching back and forth REALLY quickly, it's almost as if they become the same picture. But don't get dizzy!

@__@ ahhh. okay.
i can't draw realistic stuff very well. so sometimes i use my pencil's length to judge the proportions... =_____= (does not believe in using a ruler to measure everything bit by bit) T^T

'Cause when people all look the same it's boring.
But yeah, I think most of us are so used to people being certain types; this kind of nose goes with that kind of hair and that kind of eyes, so when someones' different it looks cool.

I have an Asian/African friend, and the model resembles her in certain characteristics. It's so awsome looking at the beauty of two different cultures blended into one person! ^_^

And you said you didn't like drawing by hand so much anymore? Wow... these must have worn you out, lol. What was the usual time it took you to make one?

I don't know exact hours, but usually I'd work on it for 2-3 days, maybe about 5-6 hours a day.
