Description This is NOT a joke. I just had someone say they thought I was being funny. All info on this is 100% true.

^PurpelBlur and ^misskittyoooo are running a week contest On the off change I do win something. Ill be donating the sub to someone else. As I don't need it. I donate to soo many different things. I just wish I was able to someone donate the cost of it to $Moonbeam13 but I don't think I'm able to..

Ok so far so many people have been saying about woman and breast cancer.. what about the men that get it too!.. Its not just about woman. Men get it too!
Why isn't this being brought to peoples attention too!
I have not seen anything at all about the men getting breast cancer on DA yet.

Thank you to `timmy64 Who mentioned to me this afternoon that he didn't realise until a few days ago, much like a lot of males don't realise. They can get breast cancer too.
So thanks `timmy64 for putting the idea into my head.
Thanks ^PurpelBlur for just being you no really though. For putting up with me all the time. Love you babe.
And to *osirisgodofdeath talking to me 100 miles an hour keeping me from losing my mind while I made this..

It took a little while to do., as I'm so fussy. I changed my mind with the lay out about 10 times lol.. changed the colours sooo many times Ive lost count. Then looking up the info as I wasn't 100% sure about the numbers etc. So I wanted to make sure I had the correct information first.

Well what a lovely surprise I got a note from ^devart saying this dev was moved. Then a few Min's later. it gets a DD Thank you ^PurpelBlur for the DD
And thank you to the GD who moved it to the correct cat

That is sad that they just laughed.
But even though they laughed I bet they will always remember it.
Its also good to hear that the health teachers mention it

Breast cancer is very prominant on my mother's side of the family, and my grandfather has it. At this point it's spread to just about everywhere.. and I think he could have benifitted from knowing this sooner.

Those of you who makes jokes need to know that this is real and not a laughing matter.

Thank you for that story if you wish to call it that.
Yes I do think if it talked about more, more people then yeah more people would know about it., So men would check themselves. Just because its not so commen doesnt mean it isnt there.
You say its spread just about everywhere, do you know if they can do anything now? or how long has he got?

Shadow-Mink In reply to Tepara [2007-09-12 14:31:35 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's spread into his lungs at this point. He was on treatment, but it looks like there's nothing they can do at this point. We don't know how much longer he has, but I don't think it's that long, I'm not sure.

So in any case, yes. More men should know, and check for these kinds of things. Or they could end up just like my grandfather.

I'm kind of surprised at the amount of people who didn't know this. I'm glad you let a bunch of people know with this deviation. Well done, too!

I learned a lot about all kinds of cancer early on in life because people on my dad's side of the family tend to die from cancer, unfortunately. While breast cancer awareness is very important, at the same, it pisses me off.

Breast cancer is a killer of women, yes, but the top two killers are heart disease and lung cancer, and many of the sufferers of lung cancer are not even smokers--they have gotten it from living in toxic cities or from living with smokers who are killing them with the far more toxic second hand smoke.

We focus on boobs (as per usual for some perverted reason) instead of focusing on the far more serious and rampant killers.

Tepara In reply to towson [2007-09-12 08:31:50 +0000 UTC]

Umm no??? You are missing the point. It was breast cancer week. I was making it known that men get breast cancer too. Nothing to do with any other cancers or anything else people die from. That will be brought up when it is that day /week or what not.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

towson In reply to Tepara [2007-09-12 13:49:15 +0000 UTC]

But that's my point. There isn't a day/week for it yet. Yet we obsess over a less murdurous killer.

A VERY good point. I had a friend whose dad died from breast cancer while we were in middle school. It might not be as common as occurrences in women, but it affects families just the same. Thank you for raising awareness

Must you frighten us more? Testicular cancer already has us frightened to the point of tears. We don't need more reasons to quiver in fear as we hide under our sheets clutching our teddy bears close to us for comfort.
