Standing watch, even in death.I've had this concept for a while now. A faithful guard dog having died(either from natural causes or something more sinister), was mounted on a wooden frame so he would continue to stand watch, even in death.
The indication is he has been here for some time, and whatever he was guarding is long gone. And some day he, too, will crumble away to dust.
